Living On Welfare in the U.K.
powerline ^ | January 21, 2013 | John Hinderaker

Welfare has become a major political issue in the United Kingdom. During the 13 years when Labour was in power, it seems not to have occurred to most Britons that Labour’s open-door immigration policy, combined with the U.K.’s liberal welfare benefits, were likely to lead to abuse. Now, people are starting to notice.

The Sun, a tabloid published in London, is the U.K.’s largest-selling newspaper. It focuses mainly on soccer and celebrities, but its news coverage, to the extent it exists, can be entertaining. This story sounds like something out of The Onion, but it evidently is legitimate. The Sun interviewed Natalija Belova, a 33-year-old Lithuanian who has come to love the British welfare system:

A MIGRANT mum thanked the UK yesterday for letting her claim £14,500 a year in benefits.

Natalija Belova, 33, told The Sun how she spurns full-time work — yet can afford foreign holidays and buys designer clothes.

The Lithuanian said: “British benefits give me and my daughter a good life.”

She has milked soft-touch Britain for £50,000 in benefits and yesterday said: “I simply take what is given to me.”

Overjoyed Natalija told how she lives a life of luxury thanks to our “strange” system, declaring: “It’s important to have nice things and good holidays.”

So you come home from a hard day of work in the UK.
You pick up the tabloid and read this...

How can anyone retain any degree of motivation to stay employed? This is nuts.

She at first was surprised, and accepted it. Was probably thankful for it. I am sure that now after becoming accustomed to it, it has become her “right” and will be outraged if plans are made to reduce it in the slightest. It is basic human nature to fail to be thankful for anything and think you are entitled to it.

Sounds like they have a lot of overly generous programs intended to keep children out of poverty.

Which is an open invitation to brazen tarts like this one to give birth to a bastard child and then literally hold it hostage.

My late uncle would likewise complain that his child support payments were going into his ex’s bar tab and shopping sprees, and not to his kids.

In the sweet old country where I come from nobody ever works, yeah, nothing never gets done. We hang fire.

If you search around a little more you see that she is a working actress with lots of credits, and that the subsidy she gets from the government is mostly a housing allowance given to working poor people.

I don’t see why we should care what people in Britain feel like doing with their tax dollars, frankly.

We're commiserating with the tax payers that are left in the UK.

In our world, this welfare recipient is “entitled” and any taxpayer who objects is “greedy.”

Nothing about looking for a job of her own. She's thrilled to live off everyone elses labor.
I find this disgusting. It's nothing short of legalized theft.

You can bet your bippy that the newspaper was VERY careful to select a white welfare recipient.

In my careless youth during the Jurassic Era, I worked in London, and knew many people who were on the dole ... temporarily that is. In those far-off days, the britgov actually required people to report for interviews at places where there were openings and made sure that (a) the dolee took the job offered ... no matter how lowly, and (b) wanted to know exactly why if that did not happen or a job was not offered.

IIRC, it was a rather effective system in matching people with work. The company I worked for actually hired many people this way.

No matter what the nation, it is the foreigners who seem to most relish the idea of legally stealing the fruits of other people’s labor.

Here in America, traditional, working, taxpaying American families should learn to shake their antiquated feelings of shame and figure out how to game the system the way foreigners and the massive Democrat party base of moochers do. Those animals certainly have no shame, and this is war. Regular Americans must come to grips with the fact that their country is gone and figure out ways to get BACK at least some of the tax dollars they’ve dumped down the government toilet their whole working lives before the parasites gobble everything up.

You gotta love the phrase she “fell pregnant”-—it’s no accident that it suggests “fell ill”, or just “fell”, like
it was the result of an accident.

Fell pregnant is the British phrase for that.

You can’t blame people living off the system like that. Blame generations of crooked politicians playing this crap to get them easy votes of unenlightened underclasses.
It simply makes fools of “equated” hardworking people. At some point all rational people gives up to avoid being idiots pulling a behemoth from this bog. That is how every socialist paradise failed.

“After falling pregnant with daughter Alexandra”

Oh, I see, she fell on “hard times”.

Ok, now I understand why you Brits want to led her a hand.
