Legislators deal with panic over gun laws
Idaho lawmakers are getting an earful from constituents, and leadership is working to consolidate proposals.

In one of the most Second Amendment-friendly legislatures in America, the pressure to respond to the Connecticut school massacre and President Barack Obamas gun control ideas has prompted a flurry of behind-the-scenes action.
Compounding the interest is the largest freshman class in Idaho history a group eager to address constituent concerns.
To manage the flow of legislation, House Speaker Scott Bedke has informally assigned a point person, Republican Rep. Judy Boyle of Midvale, a former volunteer lobbyist for the NRA who helped pass Idahos conceal-carry law in 1990.
I dont want a bunch of redundant bills, Bedke said Thursday. I want the common themes consolidated into individual bills. Put the ideas in the arena, lets do the research and lets have the debate.

The only appropriate response would be to send condolences
Another response would be to arm teachers and other staff, provide training, and end gun free victim zones. Another would be to prohibit the enforcement of Federal firearms laws within the state.

Really? so anyone can just walk into a gun shop, immediately buy a gun, walk out and conceal it without ANY problems whatsoever? Or they can walk into a gun shop and buy an ‘assault rifle’ without any restrictions?
We no logner live i na ‘secodn amendment friendly nation’- the left has made sure of that- Idaho may be ‘the most’ gun friendly state, but the archane laws it MUST still abide by are still Unfriendly compared to what it was when we the peopel were actually a free people for the most part- goen are the days of orderign a pistol through the sears and roebuck catalogue without anyoen else stickign hteir noses into YOU busienss and your purchases-
I completely agree.
Since when do politicians do anything appropriate/

Convenient of you to leave that last bit out.
If you have a CC permit, yes. The NICS check is waived for CC holders in Idaho. We also aren't hung up on black guns here. Seems like everyone I know has at least one AR-15, and they have the bells and whistles (including suppressors).
You can't get a real assault rifle (selective fire) that way, as those are NFA items.
[[If you have a CC permit, yes]]
My pointwas thast 100 years ago you didn’t even need a CC permit- and you still have to go through backgroudn checks and mandatory wait periods? years ago we just walked into a store, foudn a gun we liked, bought it and walked otu with it- the point I was tryign to make, was that yes, your state is the ‘most’; friendly state, but it’s still not nearly as free a state as it used to be years ago-
how long does it take to get your CC permit there? I know in places liek NY it can be a year or more and be such a vigourous tryign procedure that many peopel just give up trying
the same response would be appropriate if it’s so important to you
[[The Second Amendment makes any and all gun laws unconstitutional.]]
I tbhought that too until I heard last night for hte first itme that there is an amendment that gives government the right to ‘regualte’ guns through gun regulations and laws- HOWEVER, it’s still up to the peopel whether they will ALLOW their governors and fed gov to regulate them- IF the people do NOT want strict gun laws- they have the right to refuse to comply with thsoe regualtions and to remove the regulators out from office and put peopel they woudl have in so that the previosu restrictions may be undone
Legislators NEED to get the message that We the people WILL hold them accoutnable because they serve US, we DO NOT serve them! Btu it can noyl work IF enough peopel are brave enough to stand up and resist in non violent but effective ways-
New to me. Please clarify. Thanks.
It takes a few weeks to get CC permit in Idaho. It’s a “shall-issue” state, and a LOT of residents carry.

It's important to know who the surrender monkeys and government snitches are, yes.
If I were younger and wealthier, Idaho would be high on the list of places to relocate to before the United States crashes and burns.
Not true. You can purchase pre-1986 firearms. We have a class III FFL in Pocatello. You just have to fill out the paperwork, get the sheriff to signoff, pay your $200 tax and pony up half your life savings. They are available, but prices are very high. I could buy one, but it doesn't make a lot of sense. I'm 900 miles from home (in San Diego) and haven't had time to enjoy a trip to the range since Summer 2008. Why put money into something you don't have opportunity to enjoy?
I simply meant you can't walk into a store and walk out with one the same day. I should have been more clear on that.
