Oh, by the way: New York forgot to exempt cops from its new ban on high-capacity magazines (Ooops)

This is what happens when low information politicians go off half-cocked.

there is no reason for cops to have greater capacity mags than civilians. They both have to defend against the same criminals. The cops have an advantage because they usually operate in teams. If they think they need 30 rounders, the people need 30 rounders for the same reason

Maybe they didn’t forget. Given how New York law enforcement shoots, it may be a smart thing to limit them too; perhaps one bullet in a breast pocket?

Our founders didn’t create a system of governance that works at a snail’s pace by mistake. The separate houses are called “deliberative bodies” for a reason.
They’re supposed to deliberate, not rush to agreement without considerable thought.

There is a very small but genuine difference between cops and subjects, err, citizens. While we may only defend ourselves, our homes, and others in harm’s way, they are allowed to go on the offensive, chase people down, and storm fortified positions, and remove threats such as friendly Pekingese and terriers.

Low intelligence politicians.

You really don’t need more than 10 rounds.
Didn’t Cuomo say that?

are they also going to fix the law so that section 1 doesn’t make it illegal to own any gun at all?

I don’t have a problem with limits on government employees.
I do have a problem with the same limits on law-abiding private citizens.

Why do the Police need high capacity magazines? If the law makes them illegal for civilians then no one will have them and the Police will in turn not need theirs. Is that not correct?
