India’s rising middle class prefers sons (aborts girls)
The Washington Post ^ | January 11, 2013 | Shyamantha Asokan

As thousands of young Indians thronged New Delhi’s streets to protest a brutal gang rape last month, 25-year-old Pooja Patil said, many of her friends in this seaside metropolis held candlelight marches instead of new year’s parties. Others replaced their Facebook profile pictures with a single black dot as a symbol of mourning.

They were part of what news media reports heralded as an Indian middle class jolted into action by the shocking assault that led to the young woman’s death. Yet the same demographic group is also at the heart of an illegal practice that experts say contributes to violence and deep-seated discrimination against women in this rising economy: sex-selective abortion.

This nation’s child-gender ratio — the number of girls to boys — is at its most lopsided in 50 years, as a growing number of couples opt to abort female fetuses or neglect infant girls in their desperation for sons. While it is often assumed that uneducated, rural Indians are the most likely to shun daughters, researchers say the practice is quickly growing in the urban enclaves where incomes are rising — and whose inhabitants are poised to play a key role in shaping what is due to be the world’s most populous nation by 2025.

Nationwide, there are just 914 girls age 6 and younger to every 1,000 boys, according to the 2011 census, down from 927 a decade before. In G-South, a fast-changing area of new high-rises that house young professionals, 882 girls were born per 1,000 boys in the first 10 months of 2012, among the lowest ratios in the city.

What type of sick culture sanctions murder of its female population? What will India do when there are too many boys and not enough girls?

They’ll do what Red China does; send their men looking for brides in other Asian countries that are less backwards. India’s dowery system is working the same magic as Red China’s one child policy; on top of that in Indian culture the male looks after the parents.

Years ago India became the first country to outlaw gender-selective abortion (this headline could have been written ten years ago - I guess they didn’t want people focusing on current news that matters); doctors couldn’t kill the children after the parents knew the gender. Doctors continued to tell them in many cases so they could do as they wished, and if they didn’t the parents would simply abandon the newborn females to die. I expect we’ll see similar trends here as women are disconnected from reproduction by radical feminism (my grammar school-age sons seem to have classes skewed with more males already); while women can do a lot more that just have babies, who in a time of scarcity would prefer a female child to a male?

Ideas have consequences; God will not be mocked.

This kind of seals the future expansion of this population - the growth of any society is related directly to the number of available wombs for the incubation of the next generation.

And if those wombs are repeatedly razed, the situation only compounds over time.

Eventually, both India and China will have such a preponderance of males, they shall have only two outlets - either other males (a solution which has gained great favor from such as the Washington ComPost), or to go abroad and find female companionship to bring back to their native lands.

And who has what is obviously a vast excess of females? Why, the Muslim lands which surround them, and seem not to value the females very highly. Go and kill off the Muslim males, and claim their daughters, wives and sisters.

Not a problem, and because of the hybridization that must naturally occur, probably reinvigorates both societies.

This is a huge disaster in the making, because selective abortion of females in both India and China is causing extreme demographic imbalance.

The end result is now estimated at 30 million or more “excess” males, who in addition to having no prospect for a wife, ever, likely will also never have employment. As such, they represent two potential armies.

This may lead both India and China to what is called a “demographic war”, fought almost exclusively with conscripts, their professional armies kept in reserve, whose sole purpose is to wipe out excess males.

Think the bloody trench warfare of World War I, except on high altitude freezing mountains, with small arms and artillery. Cheap uniforms and surplus rifles, plus one pound of rice a day per man. Except two or three times as many killed.

The alternative would be even bloodier civil wars in both nations.

China already experienced one such war, the Taiping Rebellion, about the time of the US Civil War, but theirs lasted 14 years. Fought mostly with swords and pikes, and some antiquated artillery, some battles resulted in “Five square miles where you could not set your foot on Earth, for the bodies.”

The US is 1/4th the population of India, with 8 times the abortion rate of India.

Israel aborts about 5 times more people than India. Cultural, huh?

so/what? libtards are telling us they aren’t people yet, they aren’t male or female, just bits of tissue to get rid of. the left keeps telling us personhood, therefore gender, doesn’t even become an issue until a fetus is both wanted and born.

can’t have it both ways, libtards.

I notice that societies can’t seem to love and honor both the males and the females at the same time. It’s respect and nurture one and disrespect and neglect the other.
