A group of mayors and first selectmen from cities and towns across the state are taking a stand on gun violence in the wake of the deadly school shooting in Newtown.
The Connecticut Conference of Municipalities released 13 proposals it's pushing state legislators to pass this session during a news conference at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford on Wednesday morning.

The recommendations made by the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities would include the following:
Limiting the capacity of rifle and handgun magazines to no more than 10 bullets. Requiring a rifle permit for those purchasing any long gun such as a hunting rifle. Requiring a firearm permit in order to purchase ammunition. Prohibiting individuals from buying more than one gun in a 30 day period. Requiring trigger locks to be provided with each fire arm sale. Outlawing the possession and purchasing of body armor. "With rights come responsibilities and this is a discussion about responsibilities attendant to gun rights," said New Haven Mayor John DeStefano.
The mayors said they're not targeting anyone's Second Amendment rights, but stress something needs to be done.
"We're here because an atrocity happened 20 miles from my house. Today is my son's seventh birthday. I'm sick of people telling me that his rights to be safe takes a backseat to somebody's ridiculous infatuation with a war weapon," said Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch. "This is not what this state is about. This state is about protecting the babies. We lost 20 futures and the families lost 20 futures."

So a semi-auto rifle or hand gun is now a "weapon of war?" If that is the case only the US Military should have them. No civilian or police use of said "weapons of war." After all, it's for the babies.
The vast majority of the comments are pro-gun and pointing how how criminals will just ignore the laws.
They tried the “permit to buy ammo” crap when Weicker was Govenor. It was a miserable failure. And, as far as needing a permit to purchase a rifle.....just another way to get revenue from the permit and from the purchase of said rifle.

- to soqqmebody’s ridiculous infatuation with a war weapon,”
I’m sick of lying hypocrites coming after my rights while refusing to provide armed protection for “the chi-I-i-llllldrennnn.”
Limiting the self-defense rights of law-abiding citizens protects nobody, except maybe the petty tyrant politicians.

Part of me is glad that in the first round of CWII, the adversary is disarming themselves.
I’m sick of these bastards restricting lawful non-violent people while deliberately leaving guns in the hands of violent criminals.
This is good that all the states run by commies and Nazis are standing up and naming themselves.
For a minute I thought it was about hockey gear.
Anyone planning to go the 2nd Amendment rally in Hartford on Saturday?
