Either the Wal-Mart story was wrong to start with, or the company has decided to change back to their standard policy for ammo sales.

It was probably wrong at the start. Gun owners, in just a few months bought enough weapons and ammo to outfit China and India.

Good luck keeping up with the demand under those conditions.

Good for Walmart.
Kmart caved on ammo and gun sales after Columbine and that
was the end of Kmart.
That and they stopped selling that cool canned bacon. ☺

Truth is, the government bought it all up and there is none in the distribution channels for Walmart to order.

All I know is that our local Walmart had plenty of ammo, and then they didn’t, right after the school shooting and Obama’s anti gun demagoguery.

My Wife was doing a search at the WalMart website tonight, and informed me that there were three boxes of 9mm Luger ten miles north of us.
I drove up there to get all three boxes.
They would only allow me to buy two boxes.

The original story had a WM manager picking up the phone to order some. That was pretty much a giveaway that it was somebody’s idea of a fun prank. It’s probably been several decades since chain stores ordered stuff that way - it’s all computerized now.

Photos on the net from all over of empty show cases with no ammo. Sold out.

Maybe New York will have some. They are trying to pass a law right now that you can’t own 10 or more firearms. What about collectors????

The story at multiple Denver area Walmarts is:

The Walmart warehouse is out of ammo and nobody knows when they’ll get more.

The individual stores have not received any formal word on any new Walmart policy on carrying ammo.

Walmart is backtracking. I've seen it before. Home Office has one idea --ie, remove the door greeters, some notice and complain -- Walmart says: "oh, we're not eliminating the door greeter, we're just repositioning them." ... But in truth, the door greeter position was eliminated (I have a friend in corporate HR on the elimination of the door greeter project.). Ammo sales fall into the exact same pattern.

Walmart will do anything not to be in the cross hairs ...

walmart still has problems. i have to stop at walmarts in the central valley if i want to buy ammo from them, since the ones i frequent in the SF bay area do not sell ammo. why is that?

i can think of several possible reasons: there are too many regulatory hoops to jump. they asked and our county/city governments won’t approve it. they are afraid to anger politicians in our area.

still the fact and the question remains: why doesn’t walmart sell in our area?

The Walmart story was a fabrication to gin up 2A defenders.

Walmart is in the same predicament as every other retail supplier.

They can’t supply what can’t be got. Hell, I go to my local Walmart and ain’t nothing on the shelves.

This happened in 2008 and after about a year I could suddenly find ammo after two years gun prices started to rationalize, as did supply.

Employees at Remington Arms ammo plant in Arkansas were told today of Walmart’s cancellation of orders...

Something is fishy somewhere...

“........a man claimed to have visited his local Walmart and noticed the store was “out of almost every kind of ammo.”

LOL.... try shopping on the net and you will find “out of stock” listed enough to make you sick.

I bought a new Remington 870 shotgun on 12-16-2012. I have been researching, searching and shopping almost every day for stuff to modify the gun. It seems as though the entire world is competing with me. “Out of stock-no backorders” was EXTREMELY common.

Oh, and don’t even bother to call a vender, they have quit answering the phones, as well as emails.

Finally, as of yesterday, I now have what I need on order.

If interested, my home defense shotgun is going to be equipped exactly like the one in this video.

Walmart hardly ever has any ammo where I live. Jackasses camp at the stores and wait for the deliveries and buy it all up. Then you see the same SOB's at the next gun show with a table stockpiled with all federal walmart ammo at double the price. I wish I could get by with throwing rocks at the azwholes. The same guys are the reason you can't buy any rifles right now. Just look on Armslist... they are asking 1500-2000 bucks for a stinking Bushmaster (no offense).

On a brighter note, I just ordered 2 more Garand's! I even got one of the special builds re-barreled in .308... also ordered another 1000 rounds of .308 and 1000 30-06... MAN I can't wait for the FedEx guy!

Sadly, this is the money I had saved up for a real HK91 that I can no longer get for less than 4 grand. I can't wait til this is all passed by and the market is flooded with rifles people are trying to get rid of. I'm a pretty strong believer that this will wither away and Obama will have to settle for a few EO's that have absolutely no teeth whatsoever. Hopefully I am right...
