most of our rights are extensions of our natural rights that are extensions of our nature as humans
marriage is not simply a tradition, it extends from the natural fact that only a man and a woman can together, naturally, produce a child, and as a consequence of that natural fact the naturally best place for the raising of children is with a child’s natural mother and father
as a civilization can we allow legal alternatives in the raising of children?
yes we can and we do - we allow adoptions and we even allow modern means of assisting conception, and we admit that when a parent is lost or when a marriage fails, a single parent can sometimes do a good job of raising a child/the children
does any of that mean that we must, by some sort of “right” allow ANY exceptions to the natural ideal that we are asked to make?
NO; there is no NATURAL human or civil right to the raising of children that does not reflect the nature of the human child - conceived by one man and one woman.
A very prominent British actor was interviewed on the BBC today. He’s “gay”. Part of the interview included the host asking him about the public attacks against him because of his views about “gay marriage” (he’s not for it) and “gays” adopting children (the worst place for a child in his view). There is no tolerance for honesty among Liberals.
Was that the ‘Hardtalk’ interview with Rupert Everett ?
