Morse, Waller predict legislative fight on gun rights (CO)

It looks like there will be a showdown at the state Capitol this year over the Second Amendment.

Senate President John Morse, D-Colorado Springs, and House Minority Leader Mark Waller, R-Colorado Springs, predicted in back-to-back interviews with The Gazette editorial board that there will be a political battle over gun regulations.

“Absolutely, your gun rights are going to come under attack,” Waller said. “Word on the street is that there are probably eight or 10 bills that are going to go after your gun rights in one way or another.”

He and Morse both said there will likely be bills to ban assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines, to make people pay for firearm background checks, and to make it harder for those with mental health problems to obtain guns.

From the article:

“I think the average police shooting is at 11 feet … and they only hit their target something like 20 percent of the time,” said Morse, a former Fountain police chief. “And these idiots are saying, if we just had somebody in the school armed we could take care of this. That’s stupid. It’s just stupid.”

That's stupid? So it's smarter to wait several minutes, while the killing continues, before a cop shows up and hits 20% of what they shoot at from 11 feet away, or have someone there immediately who could also hit 20% of what they shoot at from 11 feet away?

I've translated "That's stupid. It's just stupid". What it really means is "I'm sticking to the party line and belittling any other ideas, regardless of actual merit."

There are a lot of hunters and marksmen in Colorado. And there a lot of Leftie useful idiots in pockets in the cities.

Boulder? Parts of Denver? Leftistville Hippie pockets on the Western Slope.

Then there is Colorado Springs. Lots of retired Military and they so despise the leftie slime.

Even the Dem Waller understand what is going to happen to him if he signs on to this crap.

"Someone 11 feet away has a 1 in 5 chance per shot of murdering you with a gun. Here are your options: you may stand there waiting for him to shoot as many times as he requires, or, you may have your own 1 in 5 set of chances to defend your own life."

"Those are the choices. Now, what's it going to be?"

Is this a trick question?

“Waller, a death penalty supporter, said he knows a Boulder lawmaker who will sponsor such a bill, and Morse said that as a party leader, he may be forced to support it.”

“If this Boulder lawmaker jumped off a cliff, would you?”

“While I am opposed to jumping off cliffs, I might then be forced to jump off a cliff.”

BTW. The 20% successful hit number happens to be an excellent argument against limiting magazine capacity for defensive firearms.
