An Oak Brook doctor who was stabbed in the neck and face during an attempted holdup at a Gold Coast restaurant in November is suing his alleged attacker along with the restaurant and hotel that houses it.
Mir Shah says he was violently attacked and stabbed several times by Jimmy Harris in the bathroom of the Westins The Grill on the Alley on Nov. 17, according to a lawsuit filed Monday in Cook County Circuit Court. The restaurants bartender was also injured when he chased Harris, who cut him with a knife, police said.

Maybe it’s too late tonight, but that headline is gibberish to me.
It is oddly worded. “Mag Mile lights festival” is an event.
Man lights match
Mag Mile lights festival
Secretariat falls in race
Niagara Falls in race against time
You can get some really funky headlines when you can't tell if something is a noun or not.
A bunch of revelers with Mag-Lites?
Is that something you just made up? It was 40 years ago that he won the Triple Crown. What an amazing horse.
This crap is spreading up to the wealthier places in Chicago. Can you say Detriotification?
Thugs go to where the bling is at. Little bling remains in areas not yet 'Detriotified'.
“Maybe its too late tonight, but that headline is gibberish to me.”
Go read the article. The perp ( one of Holder’s People) had only been out of prison for six days! He’s been convicted of 9 felonies and charged with 60 crimes. And now this filth, ruins a doctor’s life and has probably deprived the decent people (all three of them) of Chicago with his care. Just incredible!
so a festival sued a suspect and a hotel, and then some doctor got stabbed.

why not sue the city, county and state?
Makes no sense to sue the restaurant and others who have no legal way of defending you in that city.
This is Chicago right?
Yes, it is Chicago. I guess hotel security, maybe a private firm?
The ‘Magnificent Mile’ is North Michigan Avenue. The Lights Festival is the November lighting of the Christmas lights.
There is nowhere on Earth where you are guaranteed to be free of crime. Nobody has the legal requirement to stop every crime from happening.
OK - so I understand the case agains the guy who assaulted him, but what was the hotel and restaurant suppose to do to prevent the attack? How are they responsible?
I expected a municipality to be sued like this before a business, since so many work so hard to conceal true crime figures in their quest to get working whites to spend money after dark in non-white areas. Nobody can expect to be safe at all times, but people should expect that the murder/rape/robbery figures officially reported by a municipality have some measure of accuracy.
Any urban area that reports a drop in crime, without a significant drop in the presence of the permanent underclass, is lying; they re-classify crimes, credit them to other jurisdictions, ect. - they are lying and endangering trusting citizens by doing so.
So this doctor who I would assume pays an enormous sum for malpractice insurance because of ridiculous lawsuits, files one himself. It’s no wonder America is sinking like the titanic. Either he is a complete moron or he’s incredibly greedy. Either way, he and his lawyer ought to lose their “professional” licenses.
In “Bizzaro world” the reasoning is that if the building had never been built this would not have happened.
Therefore, the right to sue is clearly brought on by the fact that the building was there, he walked in and was stabbed.
I can see the reasoning for suing everyone in sight.

Harris, who also goes by the name Jimmie Harris, had been freed from prison eight days prior to the attack. He has at least 60 arrests and nine felony convictions dating to the late 1970s, according to Chicago police, state and court records.
He ought to be going after the politicians who made it possible for this monster to use prison as a temporary flophouse, between crimes. He ought to be going after the politicians who took away his legal right to defend himself against this uncivilized beast.
