How about this instead:
Tell them that a reasonable compromise would be repeal of the Gun Free School Zone act, as it has contributed to the death of dozens of innocent children;
and ask that they include a provision limiting the time that media outlets can spend on mass shootings, and requireing them to refrain from giving details of the exact means used.
That would be much more effective in reducing school shootings than their proposals to register all guns and gun owners.
CASE IN POINT: CA state AG Dan Lundgren (R) pushed and got a law passed to enact state wide registration for the SKS rifle. Lots of citizen back lash but ole Dan publicly presented his assurance that the registration is only about knowing where those weapons are located with in the state purely for safety reasons, nothing more. I think it took about two years before ole Dan decided the registration of the SKS was sufficient to then order that all SKS rifles be turned in to local law enforcement offices or face prosecution that would lead to incarceration and steep fines.
****(and) track the movement and sale of weapons through a national database ****
The democratic dream since 1962.
He won’t care about conflicting laws. He’ll order and enforce whatever he wants, and let the courts chew up years figuring out how to say no (including to offers which can not be refused).
An E.O. can be veto’ed by the house within 30 days ...
Wouldnt the house have to pass this, too?
Could they not just vote it down?
Sure, they could; they could also so-called "compromise" and give President You Didn't Build That only half of all he wants.
No no, you don’t need your own database. You need to find all the ones that exist and destroy them.
You might have added those SKS’s had AK style DM’s still sucked though.
If the Republican House passes ANY gun control measure, then those on FR who say “you have to stick with the Republicans because the Democrats are worse” are going to have little to support their argument. The Republicans have caved on taxes, caved on spending, are caving on homo-marriage, have all but surrendered on the abortion issue, and are setting us up for a cave on illegal immigration. Defending the right to bear arms is about all the GOP has left to distinguish themselves from the Dems.
There are far to many comments indicating the use of subterfuge to avoid confrontation and paying the price demanded for the maintenance of a natural right. Spinelessness begets the shame and multitudinous degradations inherent in enslavement. Thank God I was born with one!
Over their dead body. It is now time for every American to prepare for what is most certainly coming.
It only had value before the election.
And some short-sighted conservatives are determined to give it to him.
Brilliant. That would have prevented the sad Sandy Hook Massacre, an incident that started when a troubled young man shot his own mother in the head four times while she lay in bed.
I hope the leftists go for too much because just as there was a “lady parts” vote this last election, with a million CCW permits issued in Florida, a surely as the sun rise, there will be a “lady gun” vote in future elections.
So, go ahead, tell Florida female CCW permitees that you plan on making it more difficult for them to have an effective means of self defense.
Once you carry for a while, you know a level of personal confidence that you will never let a petty politician ever take away.
It is only coming if a few nutjobs on the rightwing fringe start shooting people they don’t agree with and give Obama the excuse he so desperatly is looking for to take the rights of the rest of us away.

Sadly, I was crossing the river in my canoe and it tipped over. Some of my finest firearms were never found.
Get over it.
I don't intend to go quietly into that good night, nor dig my own grave for them, nor kneel so they can shoot me in the head.
And considering that the establishment wants the power just as much as the democrats, they will and do see a free people having weapons as being somewhat troublesome.
Maybe trace the Bengazi weapons too???
I agree that he might, especially if he has "control" of the Supreme Court by the time the case gets there. If he is looking for a fight to the finish, bring it on.
Yeah I’d like those traced too
Not going to happen boy-king... not one inch you bastard.
Too bad the spineless Repubs didn’t spend it when it was worth something.
it will die in committee and never see the light of day.
If only Allen West...
Which is why no CCW law has been repealed, and why the "Liberal Fascists" in Illinois were trying to accomplish this before they had to institute a CCW law.
And Joe Citizen is collecting is own data base of addresses, names and location for his own payday for when the golden opportunity arises.
If he/she is not, they are not preparing and will be well behind the curve.
If you want to oppose the government do it legally. Don’t resort to intimidation and murder. That’s exactly what a terrorist does.
And closing the “gun show loophole” is gun registration.
I will protect myself against unlawful acts by anyone, however, even government.
It's not intimidation to let a criminal know that you intend to defend yourself.
Or to let government know you won't comply with an unconstitutional law.
We all need to make sure our reps understand that any type of additional gun restrictions are unacceptable and that no one will comply.
Is that what you would have advised the founding fathers, in 1774?
You don't think much of God given rights, but you are right there to support government, and the establishment.
Guns have been nationally traceable to the first consumer sale since 1968. Unless there’s something else in this that is so far unstated it is just Obamuzzie giving more smoke enemas.
Well fret not dear, there are rules after all, we don’t want folks targeting family members, etc as discussed by enraged citizens, police officers, etc in blogs and commentary all over the web; the focus should be on the tyrants once the first innocents are killed defending their inherent natural rights to self-defense, reiterated in the Constitution. Introducing the doctrine of one hundred heads:
Point of order, I’ve yet to see the compromise where the National Disgrace In Chief only gets HALF of what he wants. Usually the bozos on “our side” (and I use that loosely) give him about 90% of what he wants, plus invite him home to have drinks, relations with their wives and daughters, and kick their dogs on the way out the door.
If the representatives of the people betray their constituents, there is then no resource left but in the exertion of that original right of self-defense which is paramount to all positive forms of government, and which against the usurpations of the national rulers, may be exerted with infinitely better prospect of success than against those of the rulers of an individual state. In a single state, if the persons intrusted with supreme power become usurpers, the different parcels, subdivisions, or districts of which it consists, having no distinct government in each, can take no regular measures for defense. The citizens must rush tumultuously to arms, without concert, without system, without resource; except in their courage and despair.
But ambitious encroachments of the federal government, on the authority of the State governments, would not excite the opposition of a single State, or of a few States only. They would be signals of general alarm. Every government would espouse the common cause. A correspondence would be opened. Plans of resistance would be concerted. One spirit would animate and conduct the whole. The same combinations, in short, would result from an apprehension of the federal, as was produced by the dread of a foreign, yoke; and unless the projected innovations should be voluntarily renounced, the same appeal to a trial of force would be made in the one case as was made in the other.
Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of. Notwithstanding the military establishments in the several kingdoms of Europe, which are carried as far as the public resources will bear, the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. And it is not certain, that with this aid alone they would not be able to shake off their yokes.
They did not live in a representative democracy. We do.
You are clueless.
Some folks aren't in that position, but it makes it easy for me to draw a line in the sand.
“If you want to oppose the government do it legally. Dont resort to intimidation and murder. Thats exactly what a terrorist does.”
Actually, terrorists attack the civilian populace, not the government entities. The goal being to change the form of government via pressure from the people, rather than by direct application of force of arms against the armed forces.
(pretty good bet the bastards already knew that, but if not, F 'em)
You don't get it. If that's the "excuse" Obama and his minions are looking for, they'll set things up so it looks like that's exactly what happens. So if it comes, it comes. Enough with the hand-wringing.
That attitude on the part of the governmnet is going to get a lot of good people hurt.
“Id really like to know what happened to all of those Fast and Furious guns he handed out to drug pushers”
Well, we’ll just have to tune to the six-o’clock news to find out. Oops, I plum forgot, bathhouse barry is a dim.
“The Boy who would be King is treading on dangerous ground.”
Methinks the boy is king. Who really has the gonads to stop him?
It is you who don’t get it. If the extremists have their way we will be plunged into a war we cannot win and the government will strip us of even more of our rights.
