A 3rd Party vote is simply a protest vote.
I am done voting GOP.
All of the upheaval of the last two years was for naught.
Everyone has safely landed in the same spot they were two years ago.
If the players don’t change, the game won’t be any different.
The election of 2010 has now been safely nullified. The alarm has passed.
Conservatives have been relegated to bystander status and both parties could not be happier. K Street will signify its approval shortly.
And the Masters of the Universe raise their glasses in a toast to a great future for them and the elite.
Such fools these mortals be!
And they will be lied about and shunned in due time. The same treatment they gave Newt and The GOP, in general, did to Sarah.
And we wonder why Obama won his first term, and the second.
Obama's second term was any easy defeat. I didn't agree with the GOPs selection of Romney, however he was the choice, (less then 4% voter turnout for primary here). To many people fed up with the GOP either did not vote, or voted third party, it got Clinton elected. Long time republicans not turning out to vote this time got Obama elected.
Everyone complaining about who is in DC, have you done ANYTHING locally to get the right people in the party. Support your local county, and state level candidates, they are the future. Support the Constitutionalists when they run locally on the GOP ticket, maybe in a few years they will be the once in DC making the right decisions.
Screw the GOP. They haven’t been Conservative since Reagan.
How can the Rats not be happy?
Bonehead does their work, but the GOP gets the blame.
If u are a rat, what’s not to like about that.
Bonehead was already a weak leader, he is even weaker now.
Because of his weakness, the GOP will lose their house majority in 2014.
Is this the same Michele Bachmann that ran for President?
The only reason the Rats didn’t get a majority in the House in 2012, was frankly, because they didn’t want it.
That's bullsh*t. More people chose Zero...the GOP couldn't get the 'base' out for their p*ss-poor candidate. Open primaries, voter fraud, stalking horses, same old BS. The people that nominated a piece of crap GOP candidate are to blame. They own it. 100%
I am just as frustrated with big government as you are, perhaps even more. But I am not ready to give in to the democraps.... Pelosi, Reid, Obama and all their cohorts. I am 100% certain they will make things much much much worse...
Thank God Pelosi is not the speaker for next 2 years. Because then the destruction would be complete.
Read my tag line. You can’t defeat Santa. But the fight must continue as best as I can.
The smartest thing we can do is work hard at growing Tea Party influence.
Every day another part of me just doesn’t care. It’s a heavy realization that Reagan and now his ideals are openly mocked by the wing of the party he created.
Nothing but excuses for failure and ‘pragmatism over principle.
Exit, at this rate I’m going to end up either politically agnostic oe an anarchist. I try to maintain that there are good people left in the conservative movement. I KNOW there are. But we are outnumbered 50-1 even on conservative sites by the go along get along GOP fanboys.
I want to fight. Need to actually. But it’s getting closer by the day to saying to hell with it, and just living the rest of my life and watching it all burn.
I wouldn’t call her a RINO.
However, I don’t feel that she is who people thinks she is. She’s our very own Nancy Pelosi. She says what gets her the money and the election. She doesn’t really do much else.
She’ll make noise, but what does she accomplish? Nothing really.
She’s like John Edwards.
I may have been wrong about Newt this past election, but I was RIGHT about that harpy Bachmann.
What little trust I have left for “conservative” politicians is rapidly eroding.
Bonehead has done their dirty work for them.
For the Rats, it’s like having two Pelosi’s.
Especially if you try and write to her about something. Reply? Yeah... not even a form letter.
The only things that stands between freedom and a new gun ban - IS US!!!
I concur. Much over due.
Anyone who thought bockman was in it for anyone other than herself was misled.
bockman votes for bockman period.
The issue, Norm, is that people need to put their money where their mouths are. You know this.
Even on this site, we have people telling us we *have* to support the status quo even though it’s a known loser, or else we’ll ... wait for it ... lose.
When enough people finally get tired of watching John Boehner and Mitch McConnell playing ‘spin the bottle’ with Baraq, we’ll see the kind of grass-roots energy that will solve the problem one way or the other.
But you’re quite right. The fanboys are running the show now. Today, they seem to have gotten more than a little help from people we thought we could trust.
For honest conservatives, the last trust in the Republican Party is gone. It’s every man for himself now.
Yes, the third party thing didn't work in the last election. And the Tea Party cannot even come up with a name they like for Speaker...only "no Boehner". The fact that AZ increase their Dem delegation is HORRIBLE.
The division is NOT working.
Trey Gowdy, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul(if he can shake his father’s influence), Mike Lee. “Tea Party, Conservatives are the lifeblood of the Republic”.
Yes it is.
I guess this is what it will take. Mass defection by actual conservatives, followed by collapse and the chance the idiots destroy each other in the aftermath so we can rebuild.
History has shown us all this before. And all the fanboys and their excuses will not stop it from happening again.
Stupidity can only get people so far. Then natural law takes over. And it’s pretty intolerant of stupidity and those who worship it as a God.
There is no Tea Party caucus in Congress. They just voted to reelect this pathetic doormat John Francois Boehner.
“The only things that stands between freedom and a new gun ban are the House Republicans; heaven help us.”
NO. Let me fix that for you...
The only things that stands between freedom and a new gun ban are the gun owners with enough balls to hang on to their guns and use them if necessary; heaven help us.
I’ve been telling the Freepers for years now that the Repukelicans are NOT our friends and I have been called all sorts of nasty things for it. Perhaps now some more Freepers will see the truth.
I agree with you Norm.
Never liked Bachmann or trusted her. I observed her behavior up close and personal before she announced her run for POTUS.
She was operating from a place of extreme caution to ensure her candidacy would be successful....at the expense of no longer embracing Constitutional values toward the end of her campaign.
Also, that papilloma thing about the teenage girls was this side of ridiculous~
Ignore him. He’s a GOP fanboy that will excuse any horror they manage. His post history is filled with examples.
I'd like a list of all the great things our House of Reps have accomplished since the Tea Party Supported legislators were elected to office. Best I can tell, they have been swept out of the way by the "establishment RINOS." This seemed like a pretty big opportunity for some of those Tea Party supported House Members to really shift The House to a battle ready Right.
If they are "choosing their battles" I can't think of a better one to fight than to get the house going more conservative with the fresh blood we just put in there in 2010.
Enlighten me.
“It is truly time to think about forming a new party and dismantling the corrupt Grand Old Party.”
I already changed my voter registration today after I read this. We need to rally around the Tea Party as an alternative.
Bachmann doesn’t surprise me as she is just an actress. Blackburn is an establishment chick, so not surprise there either. What really shocks me is Scott Garrett, who famously told uberdouche Tom DeLay to go f**k himself on the House floor after DeLay left the Medicare Part D vote open for 2 extra hours to bribe and threaten every resisting member on the floor. Why battle the establishment pigs like that only to bend over for a Boner? I don’t get it.
Go ahead and start “one”? You mean “many”. Conservatives couldn’t even pick between santorum and gingrich and helped get romney in. They can’t agree on anything. Therefore there would be several alternative parties with the impaact watered down even further. Conservatives are like cats and can’t be herded unless a unique uniting personality like a ‘ronald reagan’ comes along. We need a powerful leader and I don’t see one.
Most of the old guys, Vietnam vets and such are too old to do anything but take up space. I resigned myself to this outcome before Obama was even elected, because I could see exactly what was happening.
We have no where to go except home.
Ever since the election I have been sitting back to watch what happens during the lame duck session of Congress. I have already accepted the sad fact that the Republicans where not going to do anything about all the illegal activity that took place on election day. I even begrudgingly accept the fact that they will never bring up charges of impeachment against Obama. However, for them to be so afraid of him as too give into this farce of a deal is too much for me to accept.
We all agree that America is no longer the country we grew up to love, fight for, and respect. Heck, every January 1st there are hundreds of thousands of new laws on the books that take a little more of our rights away. Sadly, while telling us to keep the faith because they will stand in the breach to keep us free, the Republican party continually does the opposite by making deals with the Democrats. The Republicans have their DNA all over the very laws they tell us they will stand against, and this fiscal cliff deal is just one more example of their many broken promises.
In my 15 years here, I have done my share of debating many fellow FReepers who thought we should abandon the Republican party. My argument has always been on the side that a third party vote, or even a non vote would only help the Democrats. Well this latest broken promise is the last straw for me. No more. From here on out I will argue for and support a third party.
It is time, hell it's way past time for a revolution that will lead to the replacement of the Republican party.
Yep...that must be it. :)
What amazes me is that soooo many well-meaning conservatives here on FR hate John Boehner...and they join the liberal media, the Obamugabe administration, and the kooks at DU with the same hatred.
Boehner isn’t above criticism...but he isn’t the spawn of Satan.
Norm, I could have written your post 62, word for word.
Since the beginning of GWB’s second term eight years ago, it has been a steady decline with the GOP leading the charge against all I hold dear.
The election of 2010 was the one bright hope, but now I realize that it is the express intent of BOTH parties to manage the decline of America and to feast off its carcass, all the while convincing us to rally round the flag, boys, one more time. I am just a speed bump in their road.
I left the GOP a month ago.
I want to fight too. I call congressmen and Senators all the time, on all the issues, but now I realize it really is an exercise in futility.
They don’t love America. They are in the inner circle and they aim to stay there, because the perks are out of this world.
Out of 535 members of Congress, I only respect less then ten.
Look at Benghazi-think there will ever be justice there?
Obama is now unstoppable. the Dems will tolerate the Pubs for exactly two more years. The Dems will win the House at all costs in 2014 and retain the Senate, after a campaign of vilification against the GOP they will not believe.
Then we will be back to Pelosi as Speaker, and John Boner will be crying because they locked the GOP out of the committee rooms again.
For good.
Can’t go through the head games anymore for people who are not worthy.
Well, at least I know there are still good guys like you around and we can check in from time to time. We have all been gelded now, some here don’t realize it yet.
Hope the GOP enjoys its last two years as a political force. or forty years before 1994, they were the minority party and they enjoyed being that. for twenty years they had the stage and completely blew it. Not to worry, they will be comfortably in the minority by the start of the 114th Congress, and they will never have to worry about making waves again.
Without any help from me.
Ever.
How can you say that, when you know perfectly well the GW had many super secret, super genius plans, that cut the Dems off at the knees? </sarcasm>
I was getting ready to post something similar. I've done about all I could do for many years. Letter writing, phone calls, local editorials, etc. I think we have reached a tipping point nationally of which there is no hope for recovery. I expect we will lose the house in 2014. I doubt another republican will be elected president in my lifetime (unless there is a major war or foreign policy becomes #1 issue). The takers + fed government workers outnumber the producers. They will not be voting themselves a paycut and lifestyle reduction anytime soon.
I give up. They win. We are too stupid to govern ourselves and I think the founders knew it when they wrote up the constitution. Eventually we would vote ourselves back into slavery. Now we have.
It’s not a matter of agreeing. The reality is that most calling themselves ‘conservative’ only want to talk the talk.
We had a bunch of candidates that had histories filled with VERY unconservative actions. From Perry and his HPV mandates and opposition to Border Fencing to Bachmann’s GOP/RINO hiring spree. And there were more.
Facts on the ground are that most ‘conservatives’, candidate and voter alike are at best, moderates.
We are filled with people openly telling us that principle is to be benched in favor of ‘winning’ and pragmatism.
What F’ing moron in their right mind can call themselves conservative while saying openly that principle does not matter? I want to hear it. And to date, over hundreds of threads I posted the question on, not a single so called ‘conservative’ has been able or willing to do squat but duck the question.
Not one will define why principle one not matter.
But many will tell us why voting for everything we oppose is the smart choice as ‘conservatives.
Idiots one and all.
LOL!! I think you’re right and if someone can come up with anyone acceptable today, wait until tomorrow and they, too, will be unacceptable.
I agree with you. Lots of spin doctors around these places.
I have had my own experience with those cowards. Those thieves took my money (OK, I was stupid and I admit it) and used it to try to convince me that Bush was more dangerous than Gore and Kerry.
These cowards have no intention of ever winning anything or they would be running as Republicans. Don't be deceived like I was when I was sucked in by them.
Boehner & McConnell are pathetic failures. Romney lost. So should they. I had assumed if Romney lost they would be out also since it was THEIR tip toe through the tulips game plan that got us here. Silly me for believing that.
As a nondescript, low profile congresswoman, Bachmann would be fine, she could quietly vote conservative and be an asset in a plodding, dutiful soldiers way.
Unfortunately she is ambitious and greedy for the spotlight and celebrity, yet mediocre in talent and intellect, and a weak vessel for conservatism.
Bachmann’s contributions in the name of personal ambition have not served conservatism, from her embarrassing gaffes, to her serving Romney, to dissing Palin, and giving us Akin in that disastrous senate race, she doesn’t help us with her grandiosity, she is awkward, and flighty, uncentered.
So agree with you. They love coming on threads and sprout their crap about “oh the purist this and the purist that”. Delusional all of them.
I’m not looking for purity, mere mediocrity would do just fine.
If someone could unite all the third parties the defectors from the GOP would have a home. Because most of those share core conservative principles.
A pipe dream because of the egos involved. But a good pipe dream.
But only because most lack the will to make it happen. I would love nothing more than to sit in a room with the heads of each and ask them one thing. “Are we all so different that we CANNOT come together and rout the GOP, saving America in the process?”
It would not be like the dems with all their little groups that hate each other coming together to form a power bloc. Because Libritariand don’t hate Constitutionalists and so forth. We are all separated by relatively minor details in most cases. True there are more serious issues, but they are few and potentially fixable. But that’s about the best choice we have.
But ego will be the stumbling block. Always is. And we are doomed because of it.
The opposite of purity is corruption.
Good Lord, the world isn't coming to an end. Politicians respond to pressure...maybe not immediately, but eventually it all comes crashing down around them if they don't listen to the people.
What kind of legislation do you think we would have had if PELOSI or WASSERMAN-Schmuck had been Speaker??
Do I wish more had been done? YES.
Do I think the world is coming to an end? NOPE.
Is Obama the enemy of our freedom? YES.
Is Boehner the enemy of our freedom? NO.
When they get into a situation where they really have to pass legislation, things change.
It's just not as easy as it looks back in the home district.
Slow and steady will win this race.
