The House of Representatives late Tuesday easily approved emergency bipartisan legislation sparing all but a sliver of America’s richest from sharp income tax hikes -- while setting up another “fiscal cliff” confrontation in a matter of weeks.

Lawmakers voted 257-167 to send the compromise to President Barack Obama to sign into law. Eighty-five Republicans and 172 Democrats backed the bill, which had sailed through the Senate by a lopsided 89-8 margin shortly after 2 a.m. Opposition comprised 151 Republicans and 16 Democrats.

Republican House Speaker John Boehner voted in favor of the deal, as did House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, his party's failed vice presidential candidate. But Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy voted against it.

Sadly, it needed to happen. The GOP had no bargaining room.

They are looking at the next election cycle. I just hope they have some stones for the fight for the 2nd amendment.

No animosity for the RATS that constructed this trap under the direction of the head snake Idi Obama and his media toadies. 151 repubs in house voted nay. The RAT party holds a stacked deck. What can repubs or anyone do with the kenyan maggot as the head of the snake? The only way this could have been averted was to forcibly remove the kenyan vulture and the rest of his criminal gang.

The deal was made long before now, the dog and pony show was simply for the ignorant American people who would tune in to watch how “hard Congress was working to avert the [fiscal cliff]” a complete lie and manufactured crises! Notice another year of unemployment in this so called “fixed economy,” just another hand out to the moochers!

Next, will be the sell out of the American people's firearms and another increase in the debt limit to three (3) trillion dollars for the rats to spend to keep themselves in power by brackaclause giving to the moochers!

Democrat party = neo moochers party!

Will the last white American leaving America bring the flag and the Constitution with them.

“What can repubs or anyone do with the kenyan maggot as the head of the snake?”

The Republicans could have simply walked out and said no more spending period! If the demorats want to spend more of America’s hard earned tax dollars, they will have to cut the size of this out of control government!

There is a reason why ALL spending bills must originate in the House of Representatives! The Republican (RINO’s) have more power in there hands then they want to recognize, but, because they can't set aside there [pride] and make the hard decisions, America ends up with these kinds of dog and pony shows!

Watch the next one coming, already being called the “next crises” by the old media, ginning up the electorate to pressure the RINO’s into giving Brakaclause another three (3) trillion dollars to give to the moochers instead of the Republicans just saying “NO!”

I left the GOP when Bush Sr. was President. I’m a strict Constitution guy. I’m also part of the Texas Nationalist movement. I’m ready for a new Republic

Absolutely....I stopped voting Republican years ago, when it was inordinately obvious that party no longer represented what was in America's best interest. Be very aware of those suggesting that fraudulent corrupt party can somehow be fixed or salvaged.. Never going to happen.

If the repubs walked out try to fathom the media dogs and what they could do to further destroy all opposition to the RAT party/ aka socialist/communist/fascist. I believe that the Rats hoped that something like a walkout was considered and some even hoped for.

Ah, no surprise there. Guess he can go back to drinking full-time now and hanging out with his buddy, Boone Pickens.

Did not matter what the Republicans did, they just agreed to exactly what the Rats wanted an still they are being vilified in the old media.

The Republicans need to set their “pride” aside and do the right thing here, stop the spending! Stop the spending! There is NOT a revenue problem in this Government, it is a S-P-E-N-D-I-N-G problem!

Walk out and stop the spending! Who cares what the old media says, they hate Republicans anyway, so no matter what the Republicans do, the old media will never like them!

STOP the damn spending, walk out and leave the Rats to rub their wooden heads on how they intend to get more money to give tot he moochers!

“I give NO credit to any of the Republican members who voted no.”

“The Tea Party Caucus is a farce.”

Well, actually, that isn’t true. I know my Rep really well. He did a Town Hall meeting on the phone and several thousand people were allowed to vote on the fiscal issues. Well over 40,000 people were on line at any one time.

Almost 70% of those votes are reflected in his NO vote. He did exactly as his constituents voted. I don’t consider myself a republican any longer. But, I am not going to abandon the conservative republicans that have stood with us.

My Rep isn’t afraid to go against the leadership. He has done it in the past. I consider him a statesman and he follows the Constitution. It is very important to him. Most importantly, he votes with his constituents.

Many who voted “No” on the sellout still favor Boehner. So their “No” votes were in many cases not sincere at all. I doubt thought that the Republican primary voters will ever figure things out, as they are too busy working to pay the popular taxes.

Well, John Cornyn will be renominated by default if you and yours aren’t voting in the primary in 2014.

Nikita S. Khrushchev would be shocked at the growing socialism of the “American people.” They aren’t much “American” at all any more.

No point in that. The autopsy will reveal the cause of death as stupidity and cowardice.

I’m way done voting for frauds, the better of two evils etc.

I came to the conclusion years ago, this is all a conjob and both parties are riding in the same limo. They clearly represent themselves.

By now, it should be pretty damn obvious.

It’s no different than the masked wrestlers, as they perform choreographed and rehearsed tricks for their audience of applauding fools, who think it’s all legitimate and above board.

Among other things, we should have never allowed the same people to hold power and run for offices over and over and over and over....making life long careers in government....It was a perfect recipe for utter corruption.

I am in Complete partisan agreement. Much of this nightmare would never have occurred if all federal employees and politicians were forced to live by precisely the same laws, rules, and regulations forced on the rest of us.

So much for the GOP being able to claim obama now has full responsibility for the economy. The left can just point to the GOP and say “you voted for it,,,it’s your fault!” Then again, they would have blamed the GOP anyway.
