The leader of Roman Catholics in England and Wales has urged followers to write to their representatives in Parliament to oppose the governments plans to allow gay marriage.
Prime Minister David Camerons Conservative-led government plans to introduce legislation in January to allow gay marriages. Recent opinion polls suggest a large majority of the public supports the change.

Exactly. If they felt there was a problem with arranging legal matters for gay couples, they could easily solve that problem by creating a domestic partnership, which wouldn’t even have to be gay-specific but could extend to other people, such as a pair of siblings living together, a parent and an adult child, etc. It would be simply to simplify the legal and financial situation of a household, which in theory was what gays were complaining about initially.
But calling gay partnerships “marriage” (and I have met gays, btw, who were really opposed to this themselves) is an attempt to destroy marriage and the family as a social institution that the state perceives as a rival to its power over individuals and convert them into nothing more than “citizens,” entirely under the control and disposition of the state.

Exactly. Which amazes me that so-called “libertarians” are so strongly in favor of something that increases the size of government over our lives, not limit it which I though libertarians were supposedly in favor of.
Actually 5.25 million, or nearly 9%.
