The highly-anticipated meeting came and went without any immediate clue from congressional lawmakers as to whether they had made any progress toward resolving the impending onset of automatic tax hikes and spending cuts set to take effect on Jan. 1.

But the president is scheduled to deliver a statement from the White House at 5:45 p.m. ET.

A protracted stalemate between Obama-led Democrats and congressional Republicans had prompted Friday's last-ditch meeting.

“Boehner should have been replaced long ago. Obama’s no longer the problem. It’s the people who allow Obama to keep acting with these tactics that’s the problem.

BINGO - what a great post.

So, we work our tails off in 2010 to get the house in GOP hands, then Bonehead and company waste two whole years letting Zippy and crew wreck havoc on this great nation. DEfund that wretched EPA and other departments that are doing end run around your sorry carcass to pass thousands of rules. WHERE is the President’s budget? None in THREE years. This is NOT in the constitution. We need a states rights revolution.

Bonehead, McCainiac, Romney (I never wanted to be prez), no chin McConnell, Cantor and then add in Kstreet people like Trent Lottless.... OMG we need to rid ourselves of the dem-light people.

GOP - please grab a microphone - call a presser and just read the list that is endless: EPA doing end run, Geithner and fed printing $$$ from their backsides, Da Union thugs now imbedded in White House making Da Rules, SSDI is filled with lazy peeps that have run out of unemployment bennies, food stamp numbers at all time high, etc. Need I go on? Add your own to this list. YOU OWN this, GOPe and Dems. You just let this !@#$&!@! prez run all over you and this great nation. We shall NOT give in NOR will we give up. Shame on the GOPe. Sickening, isn’t it folks, what is going on with our great country? If you don’t like it here LEAVE. But Leave the USA ALONE!

“But for right now, this country is dangling by a thread, time is running out and the only weapon we have between us and tyranny are the house republicans.”

I hate it when reality trumps my Right Wing Utopian vision....

I’ll be honest. I don’t know what to do or say at this point, and I’m not ashamed to say so.

Don't be a Freetard like the handwringing bedwetters

Dude, don't think for one second that I am handwringing and bedwetting over the fate of THIS GOP in control of Congress. Just the opposite. At this point I'm not concerned the least if they lose the House in 2014. Perhaps you need to re-read my post or maybe it is YOU who is handwringing and bedwetting that this GOP is losing support from its own base.

Cheer up. Better for the democrats to own 100% of this mess.

“Given the choice between a conservative and a Communist, too many RINOs will pick the communist. That is the problem.”

Agreed. That’s how we got stuck with Mitt Trotsky and that’s why we’re about to get stuck with the Weeper of the House again.

What, his base? The barely 400K votes in 4 states that put him over the top? You're going to poop yourself over that? Grow a pair..

Well, you'd have thought that the dems had won a super majority in a LANDSLIDE when you look at the performance of Speaker John Boehner.

It's not me that needs to "grow a pair".

“Why again should anyone fight to re-establish the GOP name?? Maybe they should start backing gay ‘marriage’, or illegals...Yeah, that’ll bring everyone back to the fold...”

Why ? Because a third party will take decades to build, and the Republic has but a few years until absolute disaster strikes.

How do we do it ?

In my humble opinion, we do it by electing ACTUAL Republicans. No more Ron Paul types who talk and talk. We do it by not running twerps like John McLame and Mitt Trotsky as presidential candidates. We need people who bring a hatchet to the bloated federal bureaucracy, not a spork. In other words, we need Michele Bachmann as Speaker and Rand Paul or Ted Cruz as the Minority Leader.

Yes, I’m a dreamer, but it would instantly solve a lot of problems.

Reality checks. While Boehner has no personality and terrible pr skills, he didn’t agree to anything acceptable to Obama.

And, is there, was there ever really any Obama statement planned today? I see no reference.

While Boehner has no personality and terrible pr skills, he didn’t agree to anything acceptable to Obama.

without PR skills it really does not matter what he did ot did not agree to with Obama now does it. The PR skills of the opposition and the MSM (and they have them) will pin everything from Hurricane Sandy to the school mass murders and the economy to the REPUBLICAN CONTROLLED CONGRESS and yes I know they do not control the Senate but because of the lack of PR skills of Mr. Speaker the American people have been convinced that the republicans do control everything except the White House and poor President Obama just cannot get any of his plans that will rescue America from the evil republicasns passed because the democrats just cannot do anything with the republicans stopping everything with their majority so until the democrats control the House, nothing in this country will get better.

That's what poor PR skills get you and there's no room for poor PR skills in the office of the Speaker of the House.

Sorry, all you John Boehner apologists, John Boehner needed to go long ago. There's a stack on his desk of illegal actions that pResident Obama has taken from by-passing Congress to bypassing the US Constitution and NOTHING, not a peep from John Boehner or his House.

How's that for a REALITY CHECK?

Sounds like a nice dream. Unfort. even those on the GOP ticket don’t talk the talk, so why start there?

Right off the bat, I can think the Constitution Party and Libertarian party could easily combine to give a great 3rd party start. Why man the bilge pumps on the Titanic??

I voted for the GOP in the past, but I’m done taking their lip service. At least I’ll vote for those whose espouse those ideals I myself hold; no more holding my nose when I know, even if they win, I lose.

"Now I understand everyone's sh*t's emotional right now. But I've got a 3 point plan that's going to fix EVERYTHING."
"Break it down, Camacho!"
"Number 1: We've got this guy, Not Sure. Number 2: He's got a higher IQ than ANY MAN ALIVE. and Number 3: He's going to fix EVERYTHING."

Mike Judge is brilliant mainly for pointing out in 2006 the exact logic that would elect O TWICE!

"Are you light-headed yet? :-)"

I've been drunk every other day since this POS was re-elected. Either drink and be high or sink into depression. My vote is drink so I can deal with my Republic going down. But hey, I may get a free liver transplant under Obamacare - as if.

No need to be so hostile. I said he has no pr skills, which is a disaster. Also, he did not cut any deal with Obama.

"The republicans are a hell of a lot more conservative than the liberals that are running this country. You want another party? Well I wouldn’t mind it either but it will take decades before a viable, credible conservative party could win, it will be an uphill battle into the wind. We will be fighting media, new immigrants, the takers, and social issues. There isn’t any time left so we better get behind what we have."

You're kidding, right? The Republican elite are now way left of center. There is nothing left to get behind; they have gone to far. Mitt and and the GOPe wasted a perfect storm this election regarding Obambi's terrible economic policies. You actually think there is something left of the GOP that could turn us back to Constitutional principles?

IF you are conservative, you should be wondering why Boehner and Co. aren't articulating the need for fiscal conservatism. They whine and cry about it, but never make the point - never! There should be NO negotiation...we're long past that point to maintain America's fiscal strength.

Sheesh, my own grandson could tell the Fedgov why he won't spend more than he has in his checking account nor borrow more from family than he can pay back. The last Republican I ever heard that could articulate such a simple concept was Ronald Reagan.

Let me say that again: My Grandson knows better than to write checks he can't cover. He knows better than to borrow money he can't pay back!

The GOP has turned into liberalism lite (remember JFK democrats who would be now right of GOP?), and they're willing to deal with the Democrats just to stay in power. Personally, I couldn't care less if every Republican lost their office if attempting to restore conservative principles. At least I would know that they tried and we could get on with the fall. But no, so few even attempt.

Sorry to blast you, but I'm done with the Republican party. I'm re-registering as an Independent. I'm done with GOP elites: they left me, I didn't leave them.

"The solution is simple: How about we take back OUR party ? We the Conservatives outnumber the RINO quislings by a healthy margin."

Really? Then you haven't been following Boehner and McConnell and their intolerance of the TEA Party. Cry-baby Boehner fired some from committees because they wouldn't go along to get along. He is as DC elite as can be and pretty much controls the GOP. There is no taming the "quislings". They exist only to politically exist.

After some 60 years on this rock, I've come to realize that it takes a special kind of over-sized ego to want to be a politician. That includes the lowliest city council member to the White House. These people are no longer about serving, they are about control for the betterment of our society as they see it.

They actually believe they have the answers for the failings of human characteristics. They believe they can change human behavior and are the saviors of mankind. They truly are about control. Think about your own education board or city council member, and ask yourself why do they want that political position?

Civil servants are no longer servants. They are about control; they are The Matrix!

No need to be so hostile.

Stating the fact that John Boehner is useless and should have stepped down from that position is not being hostile
