Some interesting news has broken in the wake of the latest push for gun control by President Obama and Senate Democrats: Obama sends his kids to a school where armed guards are used as a matter of fact.
The school, Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC, has 11 security officers and is seeking to hire a new police officer as we speak.
If you dismiss this by saying, "Of course they have armed guards -- they get Secret Service protection," then you've missed the larger point.
The larger point is that this is standard operating procedure for the school, period. And this is the reason people like NBC's David Gregory send their kids to Sidwell, they know their kids will be protected from the carnage that befell kids at a school where armed guards weren't used (and weren't even allowed).
Shame on President Obama for seeking more gun control and for trying to prevent the parents of other school children from doing what he has clearly done for his own. His children sit under the protection guns afford, while the children of regular Americans are sacrificed.

I wonder how many other gun grabbing liberals send their children to this school because public schools do a poor job of educating or are UNSAFE.
I found a pic of them posted on FB by somebody from Israel and it actually had an effect on some liberals. Well done!

How many of those 11 armed guards are armed with assault semi-automatic rifles with clips holding more than 10 rounds? Or for that matter pistols holding more than 10 rounds?
Well, at least we taxpayers are NOT paying for those 11 armed guards. I would like to see what the sentiment here at FR is for our paying for an armed guard at every school in the country. I think the cost has ranged from $6 billion to $26 billion a year.
Well I admit it is understandable, but it’s not just in DC. There are liberals everywhere telling us how great and safe our schools are, yet they put their children in private schools with security. I want them to practice what they preach or get the hell out of my life!
And they should come up with something better than "lock down"....dispersement is likely a better option.
Sidwell is a PC quaker school making sure no armed persons disturb the children of wealthy patrons being taught the superior ways of nonviolence
for many years, the MacDonald’s in SE DC had armed guards but the school, not so much

I read that some of the clasrooms in CT did not even have doors that locked from the inside, apparenlty the only kids that survived made it into closets that had locking doors

At 26 billion a year @ 40,000 per cop that would come to about 65000 schools...are there really 65000 schools needing to be covered? Also, I think that many have advocated having trained volunteers, faculty and/or administration to take up arms. Cost would be negligible
But, whatever the cost, remember. “It's for the children”....

My biggest problem is what kind of guards would they get. Qualified Police Officers or Rent a cop SEIU Union members.
