Seems to me the most vocal proponents for gun control are those Senators and Congressmen who know they won't lose their seats over it. Feinstein sure as hell won't get tossed to the curb. Neither will Schumer, McCarthy or the rest of them. In order to get this passed, these people with nothing to lose will have to rally other Senators and Congressmen who are tepid at best on the issue and have everything to lose.

Sounds like some Dems are starting to wonder if it is worth throwing away their entire liberal agenda so that Dianne Feinstein can win her personal crusade of banning assault rifles, a ban Democrats know in their hearts will have no impact whatsoever on violent crime.

I have kept quiet on this, but I’ve been secretly hoping that the liberals go full-bore gun-control mode.

Begich of all people knows it’ll end his career in DC. Alaskans will throw him outta office in 2014 quicker than photo radar did to him in the 90’s. Heck back then, the state up here even made cameras illegal; people were shooting them out with 22s in Anch. Begich knows if no gun control comes down the line; he’ll get re-elected. Gun control happens he’ll get booted from office. We don’t even have concealed carry permits up here; everybody is armed.

Many of my FB friends are urban/suburban liberals from my high school days, and like many FBers will post all kinds of stuff about the latest liberal cause du jour.

I’m surprised at how little I’ve heard from them about gun control in the wake of the Sandy Hook shootings...there was plenty about mourning the dead, some umbrage at the idea of arming teachers (mostly from those who were teachers themselves and weren’t willing to carry even if they could), but next to nothing about further gun control, evil assault weapons etc.. Makes me wonder.
