Gov. Christie and Michael Steele Join Mayor Bloomberg in Criticizing the NRA

After Wayne LaPierre spoke of the NRA's desire to help make children safer by using its own money and resources to train teachers and work with police departments to have an armed presence at every school that wants it, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former RNC chair Michael Steele joined Mayor Michael Bloomberg in crying foul.

Said Christie: "In general, I don't think the solution to safety in schools is putting an armed guard because for it to really be effective in my view, from a law enforcement perspective, you have to have an armed guard at every classroom."

This is absolute lunacy. And if we followed Christie's line of thinking for our homes, we'd have to conclude that having a gun at the ready by the bed at night is a waste of time unless we have a family member armed and on watch at every entrance to the house at all times as well.

You see how silly such thinking is?

The republican party is standing on the brink. Unless Conservatives can wrest control from the rinos immediately the party is done and the Tea Party must go full ahead.

Did Sarah read the Tea Leaves?

Ongoing class warfare by the political NYC NE Ivy League elites of society that are always chosen to have a media megaphone and political reigns, and then used against those in society who understand common sense.

Protection of school children by diligent committed armed teachers and armed guards will likely prevent these tragic events from ever occurring. They will definitely prevent the perps from ever killing our children unhindered.

It is not that difficult to understand for most of us, but it is for those like Bloomberg and Christie who have an overriding agenda of having their own protection while taking firearms away from all Americans.

Most naively believe this is about thoughtful debate. The real goal by these political elites like Christie and Bloomberg that realistically influence and represent both Parties, is to impose propaganda that makes every American believe every other American is a potential terrorist that must be disarmed.

This is not about protecting children. Those who consider themselves ultra elites do not want most Americans armed.

This is not about protecting children.

Of course it isn't. That's why the leftards should be called out on the subject.

I mentioned a few issues that he vetoed. These are important issues with widespread, long term destructive multiplier effects that Jon Corzine would have gleefully signed into law.

Christie will be running for Governor of NJ and my family and I will be doing our best in terms of money, time and effort to make certain he’s reelected. I would much prefer RR’s 80 percenter as the next Republican candidate but this November I would have gladly taken a Christie or Romney at around 51% than a reelected Zero at 0%, If we’re still around and able to in four years, perhaps we can have a further discussion to see how well that worked out.

Given current realities and to the extent possible, have a Happy and Healthy New Year

Well said. Especially here in NJ he’s the best we can hope for and is doing what he was elected to do. He’s so hated by libs/Dems it just makes me support him more.

I don’t know what you or “we” saw in him but I and other NJ residents/taxpayers saw a wonderful alternative to Jon Corzine. And, in the upcoming Gov election, we see an alternative to whomever the Dems run. He’s doing what he was elected to do by NJ-ians who voted for him. The other guy wouldn’t have won against Corzine. There’s a huge chance that Christie won’t win against the Mayor of Newark, Cory Booker, if that’s his opponent.

Christie is far from perfect but he’s far better than any Dem who would be Gov here. He took on the Teacher’s Union (who have been in control here for 40 years), changed tenure requirements, fought against and won (with a total Dem legislature)an increase in property taxes... and is balancing the NJ Budget.

Again, he’s far from perfect but he’s doing what we elected him to do. It works here. It probably doesn’t translate nationally.
