NEW ORLEANS – A Louisiana woman ran afoul of police when she gave her neighbors an unusual holiday greeting, hanging Christmas lights in the shape of a middle finger.

Sarah Childs was in a dispute with some of her neighbors in Denham Springs, just east of Baton Rouge, so she decided to send a message with her decorations. Neighbors complained and police threatened to arrest her, so she and the American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana sued the city.

The Christmas Season always seems to bring out the best in people. And the worse.

Since that sort of vulgarity is protected, the plaintiffs should have all stood up and flipped off the judge.

Sometimes the concept of “Karma” comes in very handy. What goes around, comes around.

License is not liberty. The judge was wrong to deny the community its just power to promote virtue.

So move to where you don't have any.

She's allowed to be an obnoxious ass. It's why we're still free.

Exactly. This nation wasn’t founded on the courts.

And we are allowed to be obnoxious right back ar her. Unless she's a part of the "protected" class.

It's just her way of saying Louisiana is number one, bad choice of fingers, but what the hey :)

And we are allowed to be obnoxious right back at her.

I'm sure the local teenagers will find her to be an approved outlet for prankish behaviors.

Right up to the point of sending armed representatives of the government, which happened.

I normally don’t care for the “holiday” subsitution for Christmas but in this case an exception is warranted.

Nothing Christ-like about such a display.

At least you called it a power. That's what it is, raw use of power.

BTW, look up promotion of virtue and prevention of vice.

That's currently a big thing in parts of the world.

Women should remain covered from head to toe, and not allowed outside or to speak.
