Newt Gingrich said that conservatives will have to accept marriage equality after three more states this year voted to allow same sex marriage and more will likely do the same in the 2014 election.

The former Speaker of the House said he didn’t expect gay rights to become the “wave” issue it has, but that he can accept the difference between a marriage in a church and a legal document, reported Huffington Post.

If this is the civilized world and we are the barbarians, then let Rome burn.

Braver man than I. I voted Santorum in just the TX primary. I went with Virgil Goode in the general. Hopefully Santorum runs again in 2016.

Also overlooked is that Gingrich has drifted ever more leftward since he enjoyed the under-the-desk ministrations of the pious Catholic Calista, for whom Gingrich converted to Catholicism.

Santorum, who proudly proclaimed George Zimmerman a murderer, does demonstrate that one should not trust ANY politician.

No matter how wholesome you were going in, you cannot spend a significant portion of your life in academia without it horribly scarring your soul in some way, if not actually crippling your soul. And anyone who says people must accept the unspeakable perversion of gay marriage and its unceasing attacks on them and the traditional institution of holy matrimony, is about as morally scarred and crippled as you can get. There's no fixing it, except by Divine intervention, and there's no way that man ever belongs in the White House.

I was one of those critics. I couldn't believe the banning that was going on at the time.

Newt is great on talking a good talk. And he's a good person to have in your corner if you agree on an issue.

But he is VERY weak as a political leader. 2 divorces in his past definitely reflects on his inability to stay a course...in this case homosexuality.

Santorum voter here too.

I've stayed away for many months because of the vile & false accusations against Santorum on a daily basis here.

Still....very disappointed Newt would say this........also Beck.....also, from what I hear Hannity and definitely O'Reilly.

They all can fold if they want....

I intend to stand.

The states can do what they want but “I” won’t accept it and I’m the only thing that counts anymore ...could care less what other people think.

I still believe Santorum’s arm was twisted to drop out with some well applied extortion by fake info. Even the GOP-e is capable of this.

This is treating people’s beliefs like they are a political position. Sorry Newt you are wrong!

Noot shows off his progressive roots. Next, he’ll be telling us that he’s Wilsonian, or how FDR was his favorite President. Oh wait . . .

Newt is worse than Romney. Romney has never come out in favor of gay marriage. I don’t know why anyone wasted time promoting Newt. He talks a good game but when push comes to shove, he is the first to cave. Even John Boehner shows more courage and that ain’t saying much.

Just think Gingrich was a favorite GOP candidate for President. I’m beginning to like a 3rd party even more.

Sorry, Newt, I don't have to 'accept' anything.

If the government sanctions this perversion, I'll simply add it to the growing list of immoralities OK by the corrupt leaders in this country that I refuse to accept.

Don’t blame me. I voted for Santorum.

Same here - and have the FR ban to prove it.

I'll be standing with you. Only, we'll likely have to do more than stand when we're carted off to jail for not bowing to the Sodomite idol. It's going to have to get bloody. And no, I won't shy away from that imagery.

The Tree of Liberty....
