MOSCOW/BEIRUT (Reuters) - Syrian rebels are gaining ground and might win, Russia's Middle East envoy said on Thursday, in the starkest such admission from a major ally of President Bashar al-Assad in 20 months of conflict.

And for Err 0 to get involved.
Not good news. I thought the Russians were too invested to let this happen.
Russia and Iran should buck up Assad!
The bad guys and the bad guys need to kill as many of each other as possible!
Let their Arab Spring bubble forth with blood - these "Friends of Syria" are not the Sons of Liberty and the modern day equivalent of Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry......think Bin Laden with the power of Stalin.
I wonder what concessions lord zero gave to the Russians to get them to back off?
That and IIRC, Assad gave the Russians a warm water port in exchange for help. 0bama probably told the Russians they could keep the port.
Recent cross border artillery fire into Israel might have come from rebels using captured Syrian government guns.

The IDF Northern Command has a clear policy on enforcing Israeli sovereignty along the Golan Heights, which was exhibited recently when IDF ground forces fired back at Syrian army cannons that had fired shells into Israel.
The rebels solidified their control of the border between mid-October and mid-November.
I see you guys are very much on the same page with me on this.
Keep US forces and $$$$ out of this nonsense.
Especially that bit about the $$$$$.
Until recently, Syria did not actually cost the West anything. Now, it costs the funds sent to those lamentable rebels (much bigger sums than they are telling us, of course.) And also aid for the refugees.
These costs are about to explode and become semi-permanent if the regime falls.
Syrian refugees will be turning up everywhere, like Iraqi refugees. A few years back, there were none of them.
But that is nothing compared to the cost of propping up the new regime, what ever it is. It will be fragile, violent and divided. As in Afghanistan, it will need billions of dollars every month, on the engaging argument that without these funds it would become still worse. And if this new regime were not to last, that would be defeat for us, because we interfered in the first place. So we will have to keep paying.
War is a big business and helps support trillion dollar global industries. Each piece is laid to further the war agenda. War will happen and funds will be needed. Wealth will transfer.
The only thing we can hope is that this war business benefits the good guys more than the bad guys.
