Keep US forces and $$$$ out of this nonsense.
Especially that bit about the $$$$$.
Until recently, Syria did not actually cost the West anything. Now, it costs the funds sent to those lamentable rebels (much bigger sums than they are telling us, of course.) And also aid for the refugees.
These costs are about to explode and become semi-permanent if the regime falls.
Syrian refugees will be turning up everywhere, like Iraqi refugees. A few years back, there were none of them.
But that is nothing compared to the cost of propping up the new regime, what ever it is. It will be fragile, violent and divided. As in Afghanistan, it will need billions of dollars every month, on the engaging argument that without these funds it would become still worse. And if this new regime were not to last, that would be defeat for us, because we interfered in the first place. So we will have to keep paying.
