When a Neighborhood Watch guard shot Trayvon Martin in February 2012, a chorus of civil rights activists concluded that he had been killed because of his race. Michael Skolnick, the political director for hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, spoke for the consensus in an article he titled, White People You Will Never Look Suspicious.
I will never look suspicious to you. Even if I have a black hoodie, a pair of jeans and white sneakers on I will never watch a taxicab pass me by to pick someone else up. I will never witness someone clutch their purse tightly against their body as they walk by me. I wont have to worry about a police car following me for two miles, so they can run my plates. I will never have to pay before I eat. And I certainly will never get stopped and frisked. I will never look suspicious to you, because of one thing and one thing only. The color of my skin. I am white .
Skolnick spoke for those who rushed to condemn the Watch Guard, George Zimmerman, calling him a racist and killer in advance of the evidence, and demanding his arrest. It was the pervasive theme of the outrage even though Zimmerman was of Peruvian descent and not white. To make the racial case, Zimmermans accusers labeled him a white Hispanic, and disregarded the fact that he was Latino with a great-grandfather who was black. Speaking for the many, Congressional Black Caucus member Hank Johnson claimed that Martin was executed for WWB in a GCWalking While Black in a Gated Community. It was the unmistakable implication of President Obamas own statement on the case: If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon. For the already convinced, Trayvon Martin was killed not because of

It’s a long article, pretty good though.
Trayvon Martin wasn’t shot by George Zimmerman because he looked suspicious.
He was shot by George because he was on top of George and smashing his head into the pavement.
I don’t necessarily agree with all of this writer’s opinion. The reason being is that he left out an important aspect of the story. BODY LANGUAGE! I’m older and almost deaf and at some point realized that not only have I become quite good at lip-reading, and also Body Language! Sometimes someones body language literally “let’s the cat out of the bag” and the person has no idea of how much he or she may be giving away that isn’t spoken aloud. Sometimes, perhaps not all the time, the way a person moves, shifts their eyes, etc. just about “gives it away” if they are up to no good and trying to hide it.
If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon. said Obama.
Yes and he would probably be a drug user too ,like his dope smoking, cocaine snorting Father.
The greatest EXCUSE in the world VICTIM MENTALITY. Everything is easily explained away. FAILURE, NOT BEING PROMOTED, NOT GIVEN A RAISE. BEING IGNORED. These things happen to everyone all the time. NOT JUST TO BLACK PEOPLE.
This is BS. When I see a kid who is white dressed like a gang banging thug standing on the sidewalk ahead of me I get ready for what ever he might want to try. Same with a Hispanic or black kid or kids.
So many white and Hispanic kids try to emulate their hip hop/rap hero’s that they behave just as bad as Obama’s sons.
I don’t usually let down my guard until I’m well past them. In fact I get ready when I am passing by any group of people dressed in urban clothing regardless of race. I guess it’s from living in close proximity to bad neighborhoods most of my life.
Right in one. It's not racism, it's situational.
You're by yourself at an ATM, after dark. You see a black youth, mid-20s, wearing ghetto-bag pants and a hoodie. His hands are jammed in his pockets and he's meandering slowly up to the ATM, looking around constantly.
Do you get concerned? (I sure do!)
NOW.....same ATM. Same time. Same kid, EXCEPT that he's wearing a nice suit. He's got a briefcase in one hand, and an ATM card in the other, and he's looking straight ahead and striding purposefully towards the ATM.
Do you get concerned, now? Me, not so much. I'd give him the same amount of attention as I'd give anyone else who was approaching me while I was at an ATM machine.
But in most of America's eyes, I'm a racist for thinking this way.
Skolnick is a stooge and a fool. How many here have reported ‘suspicious persons’ who were white to (a) apartment management, (b) police (c) security guards. Strange or suspicious appearing persons lurking or loitering about apartment complexes, building sites, commercial locations or other places are subject to this and being stopped and asked their business and for ID by licensed security guards and designated ‘peacekeepers’ such as watchmen, building superintendents, caretakers, and officially designated neighborhood watch personnel. This is a commonplace throughout where I have lived and I have been asked my business on more than one occasion while visiting an apartment complex.
I’ve seen too many white people who looked suspicious enough to creep me out. It’s not a skin color thing, it’s a body language thing.
I'm white and have seen this happen in Austin, Houston, Boston, and NYC
Same with sh!tty service at Denny's.
Some people bring race into common rotten service.
There, I fixed it.
Big pimping greed, crime, violence, misogyny, "frontin'", dopin', and falsified bios to boast of jail time served and gunshots taken has its consequences on "the community" and Russell has played this nation for a bunch of suckers.
I’s the 98% (Obama voters) that give the 2% a bad name.
I got to be honest, in the last year I’ve started to wonder if some of it is in fact rationality based upon cultural values.
It is quite logical to believe that a group that has been taught that they are discriminated against and entitled to all manner of goods & services from others to, when they feel they don’t get enough, take what they want.
It is also worth noting that most criminal offences are disproportional committed by members of said groups.
When faced with theses facts would not any rational man or woman be on higher alert among members of that group? To do otherwise is to ignore statistical information and be imprudent.
To be frank when folks walk & talk like a gangster, why should anyone presume that they are not predisposed to act like one?
Got to be carefully, folk contemn other folks for being so “politically incorrect”.
how to know mom..voices...tastes.....
humans MUST discriminate for their self preservation....
we all do it....and its not wrong.....
black yutes have a reputation for violence especially when they're in groups, and a person would be crazy not to take precautions....even fellow blacks know this...
