I don’t necessarily agree with all of this writer’s opinion. The reason being is that he left out an important aspect of the story. BODY LANGUAGE! I’m older and almost deaf and at some point realized that not only have I become quite good at lip-reading, and also Body Language! Sometimes someones body language literally “let’s the cat out of the bag” and the person has no idea of how much he or she may be giving away that isn’t spoken aloud. Sometimes, perhaps not all the time, the way a person moves, shifts their eyes, etc. just about “gives it away” if they are up to no good and trying to hide it.
Right in one. It's not racism, it's situational.
You're by yourself at an ATM, after dark. You see a black youth, mid-20s, wearing ghetto-bag pants and a hoodie. His hands are jammed in his pockets and he's meandering slowly up to the ATM, looking around constantly.
Do you get concerned? (I sure do!)
NOW.....same ATM. Same time. Same kid, EXCEPT that he's wearing a nice suit. He's got a briefcase in one hand, and an ATM card in the other, and he's looking straight ahead and striding purposefully towards the ATM.
Do you get concerned, now? Me, not so much. I'd give him the same amount of attention as I'd give anyone else who was approaching me while I was at an ATM machine.
But in most of America's eyes, I'm a racist for thinking this way.
how to know mom..voices...tastes.....
humans MUST discriminate for their self preservation....
we all do it....and its not wrong.....
black yutes have a reputation for violence especially when they're in groups, and a person would be crazy not to take precautions....even fellow blacks know this...
