GENEVA (Reuters) - Atheists and other religious skeptics suffer persecution or discrimination in many parts of the world and in at least seven nations can be executed if their beliefs become known, according to a report issued on Monday.
The study, from the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU), showed that "unbelievers" in Islamic countries face the most severe - sometimes brutal - treatment at the hands of the state and adherents of the official religion.

The devout evangelical militant atheists don’t want us to forget the names of their martyred saints.
Complain to the muslims and see if they care.
Seems the militant atheists are taking a page from the gay’s book on turning your cause into a victim. They attack religion (mostly christian ones) and when we fight back they claim to be victims of oppression.
Nobody would know they were atheists until they scream and attack anything christian. Just as we wouldn’t know who was or wasn’t gay until they start pushing their lifestyle in our faces.
Lesson here is keep your private side to yourselves and you won’t have people telling you their private ideas. If you don’t want to hear my views then keep yours to yourself.
I spend more time worrying about the welfare of brown recluse spiders than I do that of atheists.
Athiests are not persecuted; but they FEEL PERSECUTED by everyone. It is a complex. They need help.
Seriously trying to work up a tear.
I like to think of atheists as people who insult the prophet Mohammed...
My heart bleeds purple pee for the poor atheists.
In those seven nations they are crying about Christians can be executed for believing in God.
Well at least the Christians have somewhere to go after the execution.
Yeah, same here.
I remember years ago in grade school Sister Renae told me to pray for people like this - pray for people to convert to Jesus. This is what she told me when I was a little boy. Now I cannot seem to pull that lever no matter how hard I try.
Joseph Stalin, the Premier of the Soviet Union from 1941 to 1953, founded the League of Militant Atheists, whose chief aim was to propagate militant atheism and eradicate religion.
Since Atheism is clearly a religion, then it is incumbent on Christians to sue our government for any non religious public display in that it is establishing an exclusive state religion of Atheism. The symmetry of this argument should show the intent of our framers was not to exclude religion from the public square it was to insure that all voices would be heard in the square.
Well, I can see their concern. After all, should they be killed, there’s nowhere for them to go - except hell I suppose.....
Wellll, imagine that. LOL
I always said “What if I am wrong?” Meeting St Peter with an aw S****.
“to pray for people like this - pray for [atheist] people to convert to Jesus..... Now, I cannot seem to pull that lever no matter how hard I try.”
Why bother? Atheists are smarter than believers (just ask them). No one’s locking them out of the churches (unless they show up to protest). They killed many millions of believers. Atheists can take their Festivus pole & shove it up their Flying Spaghetti Monster for all I care.
They’ll find out soon enough who’s wrong.
“Athiests are not persecuted; but they FEEL PERSECUTED by everyone. It is a complex. They need help.”
This could easily be:
[insert leftist oriented group] are not persecuted; but they FEEL PERSECUTED by everyone. It is a complex. They need help.
Some options
unions
gays
minorities
Etc.
“I like to think of atheists as people who insult the prophet Mohammed...”
Ahem...You mean the ALLEGED prophet Mohammed.
Having a hard time shedding a tear over this.
Wait...maybe...izzat a tear...?
Nope....never mind. Speck of something in me eye, that’s all.
