US and Mexican statistics... why would they lie? I would believe the testimony of a few border agent, but not the some shadowy statistics. Why don’t they post a website for the border cams so we can see for ourselves? That would be very.. what’s the word.. transparent.

Simple. No jobs, no immigrants. The prime reason people came here has always been economic. No reason to come and experience the cultural jolt if there is no real opportunity. By the way, the immigration reforms of 1965 fundamentally changed America culturally, ethnically and politically. Obama was no accident.

Is mass migration from Mexico to the United States a thing of the past?

What an absolutely stupid statement!

Is anyone stupid enough to believe that these statistics are even anywhere near accurate? Do these “researchers” stand at the border and actually count how many illegals cross into the U.S. daily? Answer: Hell no!

And....how about a study on how many get across the border and dump “anchor babies” on our soil along with how fast they breed and dump little bundles of welfare joy upon the tax paying citizens of our country each year.

I just cringe when I read reports like the one posted.

Barone also predicted a Romney landslide. Makes ya wonder where he pulls his numbers from.

Maybe if they’re just counting the legal ones. There’s no way to track the ones that sneak across.

An interesting observation made by Barone is about the large numbers of Hispanic immigrants whose dreams of owning a house were crushed by lib-leftist activists. The radical activists were the ones in the Clinton admin pushing for the relaxation of the normal lending rules leading to the disaster of the sub-prime, financial crisis of 2007. They can "thank" a number of Hispanic activists who along with the prime masters of disaster, Clinton and Janet Reno, who forced banks and lending institutions to grant these people mortgages they couldn't afford. Blacks, Hispanics, and Amero-Indians were the people hurt most by the criminal actions of the Clinton admin.

So when libs go about Clinton's great economic record of the 1990s, remind them that Slick Willy was the prime wrecker of the economy in the first decade of the new century. Read Paul Sperry's "The Great American Bank Robbery" or Tom Sowell's "The Housing Boom and Bust" to get the info on yet another lib-caused catastrophe. And as in all the other cases, it hurt the people they were trying to help more than any other group.

If it weren’t for the Democrats’ free stuff that exchanges welfare for votes, illegals would be leaving the USA. The economy in Mexico is better than in the USA and the cost of living is much cheaper.

Of course, the lawlessness due to drug and illegal alien smuggling is a negative, but it’s really not as bad as living in the Chicago ghetto.

There's a widespread assumption that Mexican migration will resume when the U.S. economy starts growing robustly again.

'IF' might be the better word here...

Pew Hispanic Center, huh? Relying on them for these stats is pure folly. Let’s see how long it takes PHC to call for more open immigration from messyco or relaxing the rules.

To me it’s an indication that after waves of immigration (legal and otherwise)the US has become enough like Mexico to make the trip north not worth much.

Obama’s immigration reform. As soon as he gets our economy on a level with that of Zimbabwe, Mexicans will go home to Mexico in droves. Looks like some Americans have already taken their money and gone there to avoid the obvious decline here.

OK...so on to Step #2.Expel every single one of the 30 million wetbacks currently here (white, black, brown, yellow, red) NOW!!!! And then pass a law *mandating* a 15 year prison for anyone found in the country after having been expelled or having been found in violation of any of our residency/immigration/employment laws.

seems I read an FR article that Mexican unemployment rates are around 5% - or essentially there is no unemployment problem south of the border. True??

Is mass migration from Mexico to the United States a thing of the past?

Only if all Mexicans who are unsklled with no job prospects in Mexico have already moved to the USA.

Illegal entries into the US won’t end as long as wages are several times higher in the US, regardless of comparative unemployment stats and economic growth. All these articles about how the problem is over just seem like attempts to justify amnesty for the millions of illegals already in the US.

And now more conservative commentators are joining in the effort.

Just anecdotal here, but there has been a VERY noticeable reduction in the amount of ‘Mexicans’ around here where I live, compared to 2007/08. The ones that are left here are likely members of the FSA, as they no longer have to work ‘official’ jobs, and have the .gov handouts rolling in.

With amnesty certain to be proclaimed throughout the land next year by the Emperor Obama, no one is telling me that the flood northward isn't continuing unabated across our southern borders.

Since when is lack of employment being cited when illegals will become legal in 2013 and live quite well when they band together in communal lodgings, pooling their government welfare checks and enjoying health care benefits, to boot. They don't have to work at all.

All this, of course, will be enjoyed by the newly-legal thanks to the concern and generosity of Obama and his magical "stash".

Illegals will still come here, despite no jobs....who needs jobs as long as there's well fare?
