Democratic state Senate President John Cullerton on Sunday continued his push for legislation that would give a special driver's license to illegal immigrants.
Cullerton told congregants at a packed Spanish-language service at St. Pius V Church in Pilsen that though the bill sailed through the Senate, he would need their help to get it through the House.
"The reason why we need to pass this legislation is not just so that illegal immigrants can drive, but also so that everyone will be safe," said Cullerton, whose talk was translated into Spanish. "I hope you can continue to encourage your legislators in the House of Representatives to vote for the bill."
Under the measure, an estimated 250,000 illegal immigrants would be eligible for three-year renewable driver's licenses. The special licenses would require drivers to pass vision, written and road tests. It could not be used as an official form of identification

Lets see. Old Parky Cullerton’s relative can stand up and talk politics in a church and its OK. No church state conflict there, only if it was a Republican.Yank their Tax exemption. Do it NOW!
When I see articles like this, my mind flashes on the medieval form of execution called “the wheel”. I’ll leave out the gruesome details.
Where have we seen that before?
Besides, when license is given to the lawless, the law becomes lawlessness and has no lawful meaning. Those who uphold the truthful definition of law become the lawless in a lawless system. IOW, targets of the beast system... prey.
There are many threads and websites dedicated to prepping for the collapse of the material world, but the cause is the destruction that begins (began) on a spiritual level. That has already happened (over many decades), so now that the physical dominoes have been tipped, the total collapse will need only a fraction of the time to complete the destruction.
“Cullerton told congregants at a packed Spanish-language service at St. Pius V Church in Pilsen”
This is why Catholic Bishops are shoving this crap, they are packing the Pews.
NOBODY-—NOBODY should be allowed a license without Insurance. Who sell Illegals that
So da boy wants to give an illegal driver’s license to illegal aliens. Yikes! So many politicians these days are total retards. Why not just accept their Mexico driver’s licenses and call that good? Retards! (Think the Motor Voter Fraud Act).
Maybe they can amend the bill to include driver’s licenses for escaped convicts and people who have a warrant out for their arrest for a felony. Let’s make the roads as safe as we can! (sarc)
Wonder when the Amnesty Liberals in the GOP start caving in on Illegal Alien Drivers Licenses, too?
An Illegal Alien should already have a valid drivers license from the country they escaped from. If they do not....they either never have driven a car before, or, did something that kept them from getting a license.
Giving an Illegal Alien a US-state drivers license will just make it easier for them to get welfare, in-state tuition, and other government benefits
According to this, I have to assume that the only illegals in this guys state are all from mehico, se?
So they're admitting that there are about a quarter of a million illegal aliens of driving age in their state (Illinois)? Meaning that there would be at least a million illegal aliens (of all ages) in their state?
The special licenses would require drivers to pass vision, written and road tests.
These tests would be in English, yes? After all, it would be racist to make any assumptions about the ethnic background, country of origin, or native language of said illegals, right?
It could not be used as an official form of identification
Sure it won't! Just like our Social Security cards originally bore a disclaimer stating the same thing.
Regards,
Yet another way for Obama and the Dims to add to their campaign mailing lists. If this had been proposed 10 years ago, even the Dims would have seen the insanity in it. Now its just another good idea.
