DeMint Move Ignites Talk of 2016 Presidential Run

South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint’s surprise announcement that he will leave the U.S. Senate in January to take over leadership of the conservative Heritage Foundation think tank has ignited speculation among grass-roots conservatives that DeMint may use the new post as a launching pad for a presidential bid in 2016.

“Jim DeMint will have a bigger microphone than before,” conservative direct-marketing pioneer Richard Viguerie tells Newsmax. “If he wants to, this opens up a lot more opportunities for him. I think there’s a decent chance that he’ll be a serious presidential candidate in four years.”

Viguerie called the move to Heritage “an intermediate step.”

“It’s going to be a boon to the cause, to Heritage,” he said. “And it gives [DeMint] a major opportunity to run for president in four years. And if so, he would be the instant front-runner among most conservatives.” …

I will take DeMint over La Raza Rubio (and the other La Raza Republicans thinking of running), even with DeMint leaving the US Senate

The GOP cannot win in 2016 running Cuban RINOs thinking they will get Mexican and Puerto Rican voters that way. The GOP and its Liberal wing needs to get over fetish for Rubio and the other La Raza RINOs

Ya know, I had a nephew had his skull fractured by a gang of blk kids after a Celtics game last week around Boston. His wife and my nephew were walking to their vehicle from an eatery after the game when attacked by a bunch of them. My nephew is a big boy, played sports, body builder, yet still when 5-6 of them bust your head off the cobblestones; your skull is going to crack. He had mentioned once that he needed to get a gun for protection as bad as things were getting. I bet he'll get one now.

I don't live within 200 miles of any African Americans; when I leave the house the 1911 is on my belt; couldn't imagine what it is like nowadays in cities down there.

I wanted DeMint this year. Actually, I wanted almost anyone but Romney, but DeMint was with Palin at the top of my list. I’m not sure he has what it takes for 2016. If he’s going to go for it, he needs to start campaigning now and make it perfectly clear that he is in the race (same for Sarah - I love her, but I’d like a commitment within the next few months from either of them). What we need is a prominent, articulate conservative clearly in the race so the rest of the true conservatives will stay out. We have to avoid dividing our forces, which would allow the establishment to shove Christie or another Bush down our throats, just like Dole, McCain, and Romney were chosen as bland enough for the GOP leadership.

“Massive LEGAL immigration is what killed us. 40 million poor people from the third world imported into the USA since 1965. Story over.”

BUMP.

Teddy Kennedy must be grinning in Hades. His plan to destroy the country by importing masses of third-worlders worked like a charm. And yet there are even FReepers who will say, “we’re not against LEGAL immigration, just illegal immigration.” The result is the same either way if the type of immigrant imported is more interested in goodies than freedom.

DeMint also endorsed Romney in 2007. I have never considered him to be one of us. Sorry... that is my opinion and I am sticking to it.

Exactly the problem. I want NEW BLOOD and those that have been there for many elections need to be fired. ALL INCUMBENTS ARE THE PROBLEM. Our system was never designed for a permanent political class. We will never get term limits so it is up to us.

I’ve been saying for years it’s the LEGAL immigration.....some illegals vote, most don’t. Anyway the numbers are in their favor now. We no longer have the ability to reverse it. Set. Game. Match. It’s over here for the kind of small government we want.
