Well, they said it uses algorithms. In that case it’s developing probabilities of your behavior based upon your electronic activity. The personal profiles will likely be matched to many hypothetical situations to calculate a person’s reaction and potential for behavior in certain events. In this way they are informed who is likely to act per given situation.

Remeber that Marine recently jailed for a Facebook posting? Could it have been proactive incarceration based upon the output of an NSA algorithm?

The dangerous thing here is algorithms use logic rather than reason yet morality reacts to both. This is what made Marxism-Leninism so flawed, that logic superceded reason and morality responded in kind.

“To some, Geroge Orwell’s “1984” wasn’t a cautionary tale, but a handbook.”

You got that right!

This has been going on for some time.

No electronic communication is secure. None. Always assume that everyone knows what you said, and that it was you.

Which brings up the question, how secure is traditional mail?

Anyone monitoring me would be bored out of their skulls.

All my witty references to the annals of Western civilization -- wasted on some tech geek.

They can’t (yet) monitor face-to-face conversations.

Actually, they can, between the highly sensitive listening instruments developed to break the mob and long-range visual tech that can be used to read lips. Better to sit in front of a roaring fire with two tiny notepads.

Government is not of the state but of balance of powers and limits on a hired state.

I start having problems when a cop hired by a neighborhood all of a sudden is empowered to tell a neighbor he has the authorization to attack that neighbor.

Who gave that cop that authorization but himself? What kind of neighbor would do that to others.

This is how conspiracy simply starts folkes, and I know a lot of cops doing just that.

Amen!

Something that this guy is saying is getting lost, and it needs to not be lost: There was no crime committed by Allen. For the government to go digging in his emails - amongst that whole big pile of stored data - SOMEBODY in the government had to target him specifically. Not because of a crime, because he didn’t commit any crime. The country needs to know who targeted Petraeus, Allen, etc, and WHY.

This is not about - tee hee - sex. This is about somebody in the government wanting to get rid of these guys and snooping through all their communications in order to do just that. This is just the beginning. What I’ve heard is that people in positions of military leadership are RUNNING to retire as quickly as possible; they know it’s all bad from here on out. The government has the desire and the power to purge anybody they want. And with the communist-Islamist Obama in our White House for a 2nd, more “flexible” term, the purges will be coming very quickly - starting with the most critical patriots who have to be shot down, but moving on to even us mundane peons. And as this whistle-blower says, it doesn’t matter if a person is innocent of crimes and poses no risk to anybody else. The same crap that Obama used to get his opposition to drop out of elections is what he will use on everybody who still stands for America.

One thing I really enjoyed hearing this whistleblower say - that he constantly puts in his emails exactly what he thinks of the government so the person doing the snooping will know exactly where he stands. I do that too. I like to remind them that God knows everything and there will be a day of REAL justice. As long as they’re listening in, I’ll make sure they hear what they really NEED to hear...

Dear NSA busybodies:

I will soon commence wearing a mask—even if it is several pieces of duct tape OR I will smile a great deal.

Uranium, revolt, nuclear, organization, gun, plutonium, trigger, white house, “come and take it”, bomb, force of arms, president, unrest...

Let see what alarms that trigger. That is the most exciting things I have typed in a while.

Turn off your converter box... Well maybe not, but it HAS crossed my mind and is in an upstairs room away from day-to-day conversation.
