Someone at the top of the US chain of command -wanted- the ambassador dead.
If true, that is really unbelieveable that this admininstration did nothing to help our men in trouble. How could Obama and his crew just stand by and watch? That is not the American way. We would try, at least try to do something.
I think about as much of Obama as I did about John Kennedy after the bay of pigs attempted invasion. That was another example of when the president should have done something.
The more I think about it, the more this (stand down) sounds like the work of President Jarrett.

1) Only the POTUS can authorize a CBA (cross border authority) command for a rescue mission in a foreign nation.
Plus Fact Two:
2) No rescue mission was attempted.

3) 0bama turned his back on 41 State Dept. and CIA employees refusing to issue a CBA command and went to bed so he could go to Las Vegas the next day.

There is some reason to believe that the assets were over the target and permission to use them were denied.
That would not be dependent on CBA.
If Woods had the target painted multiple times, the assets were in place. It was not used. Who do you blame?
Any forces from outside Libya’s borders would require a CBA.
Have read that both armed drones and AC-130H’s were already within Libya. We helped the Libyan rebels with air power before.
Now, I do not have proof, but the fact that the target was painted by Woods is a good indicator the assets were in place.
I read that the AC-130s were removed in July.
The Benghazi fiasco is an impeachable offense if ever there was one.
Time for Watergate style hearings.
Congress should be gathering evidence for impeachment proceedings.

That is the origin of the rumor that AC-130s might have been in Libya. It was never more than a speculation.
There is another article that fed the early speculation that something armed was in the sky over Benghazi based on the report that Woods was 'lazing' a target. Later articles proved that there could be a number of reasons he might have been 'lazing' a target without any air support above. There are different kinds of targeting scopes and it was proven that they had them at the 'annex.' Some will store the targeting info digitally to upload at any later time.

It took me a while to sift through my bookmarks but that is probably the best thread on the subject of possible air assets being overhead during the attack. Many of the posts are worth reading too.
