ATLANTA -- Notre Dame, the Tide rolls for thee.

Alabama rallied twice in the second half to down Georgia 32-28 in the SEC Championship game at the Georgia Dome on Saturday, all but assuredly earning a shot at the No. 1 Irish in the BCS title tilt on Jan. 7.

Down three with five and a half minutes to play, Alabama QB AJ McCarron threw a 45-yard pass to Amari Cooper for with 3:15 to play. The drive took four plays.

In what has become two teams swinging anvils at each other all afternoon, Georgia blew an 11-point lead only to restore its advantage early in the fourth quarter, leading Alabama 28-25 as the teams have three 100-yard rushers on the day between them.

The third quarter began as an utter disaster for Alabama, as Georgia seemed poised to vanquish demons after collapsing against LSU in this spot last year. It opened the second half with a 75-yard drive to a Todd Gurley 3-yard touchdown run and a 14-10 lead.

Then the Georgia special teams continued its rout in this affair, blocking an Alabama field goal attempt with Alec Ogletree returning it 55 yards for a stunning score and a 21-10 advantage midway through the third.

Troy may rise again, but it won’t be with Lame Kitten at the helm.

As one who remembers 62-24....I took great joy in somebody returning the favor on Nebraska.

Hey, I was there too! But I was only 8 so you heard no profanities from me nor my family. We don’t use the bad language. Sorry you experienced the nasty fans. We are not all like that. We usually have around 98,000-100,000 people attend games. I’m sure if you put 100,000 people together from any place, you are going to see some bad apples. I am trying to take the high road. You keep sounding like you have a chip on your shoulder. Roll Tide brother. May the best team win!

Thanks. You are gracious. But, no chip. Just tired of the constant Notre Dame bashing and the arrogant SEC blather (and note, I am a die-hard Southerner). But, read carefully and you will notice that I have also said a good thing or two about Bama, such as their willingness to play schools outside the South, relative to other SEC teams. And yet, then again, maybe when Bama stops so absurdly claiming the 1973 championship, which was won on the field before my own eyes, I’ll be less inclined to feel the insult. Go Irish!

The Rose, Sugar and Orange Bowl games are all clunkers. Nobody is going to watch them.

How many empty seats will there be at that FSU-Northern Illinois game. I guarantee the crowd that is there will almost all be NIU fans.

Florida gets to go up against their old DC, Charlie Strong, so there is some intrigue there.

The Fiesta is the best one out of the bunch, outside of the Bama-ND Championship Game.

The Cotton Bowl should be fun.

The Holiday Bowl with Baylor and UCLA also looks intriguing.

Those were the rules at the time. So it counts.

Same thing sorta happened in 1964 when BOTH major polls awarded the NC BEFORE the bowl games. Bama won, the was beaten by Texas in the bowl game.

So, next year the AP people decided to award their championship after the bowl games. Bama was NOT #1 at the time, having a loss and a tie on their record. But after the game, there they were back on top.

Roll Tide.

When he was head coach of the Dolphins rumors came up about him taking the same job with Alabama.

Saban was hounded by reporters about the rumors and said: “I’m not going to be the Alabama coach.” Two weeks later the school introduced him as the head coach.
