This will not happen until Americans have little else to lose.

Folks are still going about their lives, raising kids, saving for retirement and so forth.

What's the spark that sets off the fuse? Who knows, but I don't see Americans standing in solidarity to force change. I hate it, but it's true.

IMHO, what is needed is a civilian militia consisting of law abiding citizens...all nut jobs and looney tune's disallowed.

Meet at a private ranch, rifles unloaded and slung over the shoulder. One, Two, several thousand men meet in solidarity to send a message....we are not going to allow our liberty and freedoms to be stripped from us by a behemoth entity.

Peaceful demonstration with a goal in mind, display the ability to muster like minded men.

well stated! How did this happen? How did this great nation become a nation of takers rather than givers? How did 50% exchange the ideas of liberty, freedom, free enterprise for a gov’t check and cradle to grave care? How were the dominant judao-christian ideas get pushed out of our schools and universities? What a sorry mess were in. I’m almost 60 and have lived in the freest, most blessed country in the history of mankind. But what kind of country are we giving our children? I have a daughter with a masters in science. Can’t find a job with 300,000 other unemployed biologists. Thanks for letting me put my thoughts down. Thank you Free Republic. Thank you Jimrob for letting the few remaining freedom lovers have a forum. “live free or die” “don’t tread on me” Liberty isn’t taught it’s God-given. All we have is the Bible and a noble document the U.S. Constitution to guide us.

There is a strong historic precedent for what you have outlined. Below is a link to get you started to learn how the militias of East Tennessee and South west Virginia, formed to fight Indians, turned the tide in the Revolutionary War

I agree with this. The likelihood of any serious secession movement is nil until things get much, much worse. And when it does happen, the Marxist government in place is going to be absolutely brutal in putting it down. I'm not sure many eyes will be opened even then.

“This will not happen until Americans have little else to lose.”

True. And ben bernanke seems to be doing all he can to bring that to bear.

“IMHO, what is needed is a civilian militia consisting of law abiding citizens...all nut jobs and looney tune’s disallowed.”

And who, pray, gets to determine who is a “nut job” and a “looney tune?” Would a nut job be someone who has tattoos? Would a looney tune be someone whose religious tenets include the belief that Jesus Christ visited North America?

I like your idea of a civilian militia (which we already have, as propounded by the Founders), but it would be an anarchical body unless all were accepted, warts and tattoos and strange religious rites and all.

I am still going through the motions because there isn't anything better to do. But I no longer hold out much hope for a quiet future. Even with republicans in charge we are headed for disaster because they keep appeasing the left.

The best hope is for the red and blue states to part company, but too many people are still in denial.

We are about to run out of quarters and when the music stops we're going to make Greece look like a high school debate club.

From what I’ve heard they’re already numbering in the hundreds of thousands in the Southern and Western states and growing.

What's the spark that sets off the fuse?

The day Americans walk into a grocery store and there are no groceries?
