Dominique Strauss-Kahn and the hotel housekeeper who accused him of sexually assaulting her last year have quietly reached an agreement to settle a lawsuit she brought against him stemming from the case, which made international headlines.
French media reported Friday that Strauss-Kahn, 63, former head of the International Monetary Fund, would pay $6 million to Nafissatou Diallo, who accused him of attacking her at a Manhattan hotel. The parties are scheduled to appear next week before Justice Douglas E. McKeon in State Supreme Court in the Bronx.
Mr. Strauss-Kahn, was arrested in May 2011 after Ms. Diallo, an immigrant from Guinea, told the police that he had sexually assaulted her when she came to clean his suite at the Sofitel hotel. Several days later, a grand jury indicted Mr. Strauss-Kahn on charges including attempted rape, sexual abuse, criminal sexual act, unlawful imprisonment and forcible touching. Ms. Diallos lawsuit sought unspecified damages for what court papers called a violent and sadistic attack that humiliated and degraded her, and robbed her of her dignity as a woman. Her lawyer indicated that he was prepared to introduce testimony from other women who say they were attacked by Mr. Strauss-Kahn in hotel rooms around the world and in apartments specifically for the purpose of covering up his crimes.
Mr. Strauss-Kahn has said the sex with Ms. Diallo was consensual, though in a French television interview after the charges were dismissed, he acknowledged that the encounter was an error and a moral failure.
DSK also has legal troubles in France, where he was charged in Lille in 2011 with participating in an organized prostitution ring, a result of sex parties that he attended in France and at a hotel in Washington.

I wonder who will be picking up DSK’s $6M settlement tab and multi-million dollar legal bills.
His wife, the French billionaire heiress, Anne Sinclair, dumped him after he no longer had a chance to be President of France.
I hear he has a new “girlfriend” very young, not a billionaire.
Ah! The French! What next?
Is that a roll of bills in your pants, or are you just glad to see me.....
I believe he has a stash of cash....outside of France of course, that he took from various sources over the years. The thing is....this maid will have to accept payment via a US bank (or draw the curiosity of the IRS), then she has to put at least a million over to the lawyer who handled this mess for her. I doubt if she gets more $2 million at the end of this episode.
The settlement would be subject to income tax only to the extent it replaced lost income.
That would be Myriam Aouffir, a "high-profile press officer for French television".

She obviously loves him for his taste, discretion, dashing appearance and unparalleled good sense.
Right, the payment is to make her whole so not taxable unless as you say it was for lost earnings. However the lawyer is probably getting more like expenses off the top and then 30% of the rest or about $2 million.
I can almost hear the sigh coming from Juanita Broderick.
