Dem Rep. Hank Johnson: Amend Constitution to Restrict Freedom of Speech
CNSNews.com ^ | Nov 29 2012 | Eric Scheiner

(CNSNews.com) - Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) says, “corporations control the patterns of thinking” in the United States and that the Bill of Rights to the Constitution should be amended so that the government is given the power to restrict freedom of speech.

"We need a constitutional amendment to allow the legislature to control the so-called free speech rights of corporations," said Johnson.

“These corporations, along with the people they support, other millionaires who they’re putting into office, are stealing your government. They’re stealing the government and the U.S. Supreme Court was a big enabler with the Citizens United case,” Johnson said at the Annesbrooks HOA candidate Forum in Georgia in October.

“They control the patterns of thinking," said Johnson. "They control the media. They control the messages that you get. So, you are being taught to hate your government--don’t want government, but keep your hands off of my Medicare by the way. I mean, we are all confused people and we’re poking fingers at each other saying, well you’re black, you’re Hispanic, immigration, homosexuals. You know, we’re lost on the social issues, abortion, contraception.

“And these folks," Johnson said, "are setting up a scenario where they’re privatizing every aspect of our lives as we know it. So, wake up! Wake up! Let’s look at what’s happening. We need a constitutional amendment to allow the legislature to control the so-called free speech rights of corporations.”

The U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United vs. Federal Elections Commission is that corporations have a right to freedom of speech, including the right to speak about politicians and federal officeholders during an election year.

Does Mr. Johnson wonder why Manhattan island didn't tip over during Hurricane Sandy?

You beat me to it.

Unions should NOT be allowed to contribute Dues to ANY Political Party, ANY self-serving Legislator/Cause, etc., and the Free Speech of its Members is NOT affected....they are Free to do as they choose, INDIVIDUALLY.

This is ALSO the reason that Unions in Public Sector jobs should be banned/found to be RICO-violation, AND, Davis-Bacon is a violation of the 14th Amendment, and must be ruled Un-Constitutional, also.

My initial reaction is to say that his constituents get what they deserve, but the problem with Congressthings is that they ALL affect pretty much every aspect of all of our lives.

There are a lot of worshippers who will agree with Johnson. They’ll even go further and say any speech that’s against the governent should be limited, too. That is as long as liberals are in charge.

Liberal voters are mostly dumb. I know one who actually said this:

“I always vote for the man and not the party. In a fit of insanity I voted republican one time when I voted for Reagan.”

How far our country has fallen that this enemy of the Constitution occupies a safe seat and will never be called out by the press for proposing EXACTLY what the 1st Amendment prohibits: Congress making a law abridging freedom of speech.

“Then, yes we are headed for some major trouble and conflict that won’t end well.”

The signs are there.

Listen to Progressives proclaim that Conservatives are
religious zealots who believe in an invisible man in the sky.

Listen as they Alinskyize entire populations, such as
Christians, “the rich”, Conservatives, the people in “flyover country” who are considered to be
knuckle-dragging, gun-loving, bible-thumping morons;
as they arrogantly and loudly proclaim their intellectual superiority.

The same spirit that brought revolution to so many places in the world has taken root here.

The scu&bags are becoming more and more brazen,
arrogant, visceral, psychotic and adolescent. Watch as they begin to usurp power and proclaim themselves to be the saviours of mankind.

Just saying.

IMHO

Last I looked, the Constitution said those rights were granted by God. I imagine the framers did that in anticipation of idiots like this Representative.

I don't know why I clicked the link, I figured from the start of what a Hank Johnson was. But I do agree with him on one thing. We do need a Constitutional Amendment, and asap.

An IQ test for all candidates running for office. If it's below 90 you're automatically disqualified from holding ANY office, be it: Federal, State, County, Township, or City-Town-Village.

Yes I know, this would be called 'unfair'. It would decimate Democrat politician numbers at every level. But it's also unfair that we Americans can be, and are, governed by functional illiterates and certifiable MORONS!

And the IQ test requirement wouldn't be 'racist' or violate anyone's civil rights. For every minority like Hank Johnson and Maxine Waters there's a white Babs Boxer, Patty Murray, and ..... Joe Biden!

And in running for the office of POTUS the IQ test score should be higher, that's just common sense. For POTUS the minimum score should be an IQ of 130(1).

(1) Yes, an IQ of 130 is 'high'. But if you check occupations-professions with the typical IQ's of said profession it pretty much all falls in line and doesn't seem such a shocker.
