Second Dem hints at alliance to keep Senate in GOP hands

ALBANY In what appeared to be a coordinated effort, a Mohawk Valley senator on Wednesday became the second Democrat to signal he might support a bipartisan coalition to govern the New York State Senate that could keep Republicans in power.
Sen. David Valesky (D-Oneida) issued a statement that hinted four members of the Independent Democratic Conference could join with Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos (R-Rockville Centre) to form a governing alliance.
I believe the time is right for a true bipartisan coalition to govern the Senate, Valesky said. He said such a partnership would be a bold new model of . . . governance for the people of this state.

As I understand it, Cuomo does NOT want the Democrats to take control of the senate. If they do, they will flood him with whacky left-wing legislation, and he doesn’t want to either risk his reputation by signing it, or going to war with his own party by vetoing it. If the GOP maintains control, the Republicans can be blamed for blocking the leftist agenda.
Sometimes it IS better to let the screwballs have full say.
That way the meat of the beast can be pointed out and we can say, “See, told ya.”
Except that the damage they do is then permanent as nobody will actually try to undo it.
