Goldwater?
Too many have swallowed talking points that aren't reflective of reality. They want to believe the country is center-right; they want to believe conservatives always win if they're pure enough and if they don't there's some conspiracy.
It wasn't money alone that won Romney the nomination. Republican voters didn't fall behind a single alternative. Too many flailed around, hopping from one to the next. It was a three-ring circus.
Obama's re-election wasn't Romney's fault. We had a personally popular incumbent president of "historical nature" begging for more time, the candidate with an exceptional ground game, an exceedingly complicit media machine and an electorate still primed to blame Bush for the economy.
I'm shocked and disturbed at the results but I'm not looking for boogeymen or conspiracies to blame. If we look at the one pollster who got it right across the board, we see Romney may never had a chance at winning. That's perhaps the worst part.
We need better answers than "RINOs fault," "GOPe's fault," "voter fraud's fault." Some right here on FR refused to go to the polls in spite of all that was at stake. Some of the same people are making excuses why Tea Party or "conservative" darlings failed to carry U.S. Senate seats in states Romney won easily.
The more time wasted blaming phantoms, the more time Democrats and Obama have to build on their momentum regarding the fiscal cliff and endless other issues. It is so easy to promote infighting, it's amazing Republicans and conservatives achieve anything ever.
Gimme a break, LBJ was JFK's second term—nobody was gonna beat him.
Romney lost to the worse president since Woodrow Wilson no matter how you spin it...it is his cross to bear and no one elses.
Saying RINO Romney was not to blame for losing the election is like saying it wasn't Hitler's fault he lost WWII—pure nonsense.
