Report: White House considering corporate donors for inauguration
By Alexandra Jaffe - 11/23/12 09:47 AM ET
President Obama is considering allowing corporate donors to help fund his inauguration in 2013, the Wall Street Journal reports.
Such a move would be a reversal of Obama's 2009 ban on such donations, which was then meant as a symbolic gesture.
In 2009, the president raised over $50 million from donors, sans any contributions from corporate donors, to fund his inauguration.
But he did not pursue corporate donors, "a gesture meant to show that well-heeled interests wouldn't have undue influence in his administration," according to the Wall Street Journal.
The White House wouldn't make public the cost of the upcoming ceremony, and wouldn't indicate what Obama's fundraising target is this time. The president's fundraising pays for many of the events and celebrations surrounding the inauguration.
But, coming out of a long and costly presidential campaign season, Democratic donors are fatigued, making the prospect of soliciting funds from corporate donors if not a necessity, at least an expediency.
President Obama will be sworn in on Monday, Jan. 21, but inauguration preparations have already begun.
Hypocrites!!
All those who donate could make up a new boycott list
Dont fight them!...Join them...can food..cant beat them on price...frozen Foods....watch the sales...Fresh meat...RUN!!!!!!!!!!!IMHO of course
Since he’s already in office, why really do we need another inauguration?
When does he re-open the Office of the President-Elect?
Yes, he should get the money from all of the failed green energy dirtballs that made millions from his loans.
Obamanation Communism File.
Must...not...type... Stereotypical fast food chain’s name...
You can’t tell me that the Kenyan bass turd spent that entire billion dollars Hollywood and Soros gave him to buy a second term in the White Hut. Why don’t he use that money?
Like he passed along to Putin, after the election he’d have more flexibility.
I want to see the seal of the President Re-elect.
Pay to Play!
Blackmail would be more like it.
Yep...
If I thought this would get the tax payer off the hook, I’d be all for it...
