The trap that Ariel Sharon built

The ceasefire agreement that Israel accepted Wednesday night to end the current round of Palestinian rocket and missile attacks is not a good deal for Israel by any stretch of the imagination.

At best, Israel and Hamas are placed on the same moral plane. The ceasefire erases the distinction between Israel, a peace-seeking liberal democracy that wants simply to defend its citizens from molestation, and Hamas, a genocidal jihadist terrorist outfit that seeks the eradication of the Jewish people and the destruction of Israel.

Under international law, Israel is not just within its rights to defend itself from Hamas. It is required to. International law requires all states to treat Hamas terrorists as criminals and deny them safe haven and financing. But the ceasefire agreement requires both the Israeli policeman and the Hamas criminal to hold their fire.

At worst, the ceasefire places Israel beneath Hamas. The first two clauses require both sides to end hostilities. The third suggests Israel is expected to make further concessions to Hamas after the firing stops.

[Israel] can try to coexist with Hamas. This option is doomed to failure since Hamas seeks the annihilation of the Jewish people and the eradication of Israel.

It seems easy enough for a child to understand. I must confess that I turned on my computer this morning kind of hoping that Israel was on the move again. But, in spite of all the criticisms heaped on Bibi, I still cannot find a better candidate to run against him in January. Israel's only hope is Mashiach Ben David!

After following the events in Israel for decades - a few years ago on Fr I wrote I was giving up on the dumb Israelis. Their naiveness amazes me.

It' not like the country is made up of dumb Jews from a particular location like Brazil or Russia or Germany . The Israelis come from all over the world, but still are stupid enough as a group to believe that they can talk their way into a peaceful solution with the Muslims.

Many Americans make the same mistake about Muslims but we are not yet in direct threat from the Muslims as has been the Israelis in words and deeds. These threats against Jews go back centuries, and against Israel since its founding.

It's not like the Muslims keep their plans of annihilating the Jews a secret.
What part of we are going to kill you and wipe you off the face of the earth don't the dumb Jews get.

Well anyway, the dumb Jews didn't disappoint me when the Muslims handed them an opportunity with the Gaza launched rocket attacks, to go after Hamas and crush it, but as usual the dumb Jews settled for a cease fire,while they were making progress against the Muslim aggressors. - tom

It is surreal that Israel is dealing with this group of nihilists.
