(CNSNews.com) - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is encouraging national retailer Hudson News to put hunting magazines where children cant see them -- because, Like other forms of casual or thrill violence, hunting spawns a dangerous desensitization to the suffering of others.
In a recent blog post, PETA wrote: If children aren't mature enough to see nude human bodies, are they really mature enough to see people killing for fun?
PETA has written to the CEO of Hudson News, Joseph DiDomizio, to request that his retail outlets handle hunting magazines the same way they would handle pornography or any other material that is inappropriate for kids: Store them out of reach and view of minors and allow only adults over the age of 18 to purchase them.
If looking at pornography could encourage kids to become sexually active, as some child advocates suggest, what could looking at magazines that portray killing as exciting and rewarding do to them? We know that many of the school shooters who killed their classmates first hunted animals.
PETA argues that children cant fully comprehend the consequences of hunting, adding that hunting tears apart animal families and their communities.
According to PETA, Baby deer are often orphaned when hunters kill their parents. And many animals who are shot by hunters are injured but not killed, and they are left to starve, die from blood loss, or be attacked by predators.
PETA notes that Hudsons British counterpart, W.H. Smith, has imposed an age restriction on the sale of hunting magazines.
PING!
Yes, I added the humor topic word, even though it is a serious story, because anybody on this forum should get a good laugh out of it.
Not on my neck of the woods, we want the meat.
But hey, predators gotta eat, too.
People Eating Tasty Animals.
This is utterly ridiculous. Hunting causes a desensitization to violence? My relatives in LA (Lower Alabama) have owned hunting rifles and have hunted for generations. The homicide rate in their community is nil. Compare the rate of gun violence in rural hunting communities to that in urban communities of those who have never hunted. As far as hunting for fun, every hunter I know eats what they shoot, or gives it to others to eat. I wish PETA had the same outrage at babies killed for convenience as they do about animals killed for food.
They will soon be rounding up sharks, wolves, foxes, grizzlies, predatory birds, and wild cats for sensitivity training and reeducation on the evils of hunting.
My middle son just killed his first buck. A nice 8 pt. When they were little they use to help me butcher. Now they butcher without me. Loads of family fun.
PETA? GFY.
Most hunters hunt for meat, not for fun.
My youngest grandson shot his first deer 3 years ago when he was 12 and on his very first hunt.
He will never forget that time and the doe was exceptionally tasty.
He shot the mother and I shot bambi, it was better than veal.
No orphan makers, but when we are, mother ghia will take care of her animal children.
peta members are insane and given a choice {without punishment} I'd rather gut one of them than a deer. Feed them to the wolves.
Worms gotta eat too.

In case you missed it ... the latest and greatest PETA poo!
Hudson has backed off the age ban due to complaints from theie customers.
Hunting is very healthy for children and it forms a liflong bond with mom and dad. All children should be taught to hunt if they wish.
If PETA is so against killing animals, then why do the euthanize 98% of the critters committed to their custody.
Are they so stupid that they don’t understand that euthanize means kill?
Ah,yes...PETA.Keeping it classy,as usual.
“adding that hunting tears apart animal families and their communities.”
The Disney view of nature yet again. Having spent a good deal of time on a ranch the reality of nature is far different than Peta protrays.
“My middle son just killed his first buck. A nice 8 pt”
Give my congratulations to your young lad and tell him welcome to the family of hunters.
Deer are one of God’s most clever and beautiful gifts to man:
1. They are beautiful. In nature or hanging on the wall.
2. They are great to eat. Sausage, steaks, it is all good.
3. They are really destructive pests doing billions of damage to crops every year. Farmers refer to them as “rats on stilts.
Could there be a more wonderful animal?
