Rocket Hits Gush Etzion
Arutz Sheva ^ | 20/11/12 | Tzvi ben Gedalyahu

A rocket exploded in an open area near an Arab village in Gush Etzion around 2:15 p.m. as sirens wailed in Jerusalem during another barrage of rockets and missiles unleashed by Hamas.

The missile exploded in an open area, and no one was injured. Minutes before the sirens rang out, an AFP correspondent in Gaza City reported hearing the loud report of an outgoing rocket.

The attack was claimed by Hamas's armed wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, which said it had fired "an M75 rocket at the occupied city of Jerusalem."

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who spent the past two days in Egypt, had been scheduled to hold talks in Jerusalem with Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman shortly after noon.

At least one missile was aimed at Jerusalem last week and reportedly exploded in an open area next to an Arab village in Gush Etzion, located south of the capital.

Shortly earlier on Tuesday, three rockets hit a kibbutz, critically wounding at least one person. The early warning siren system did not operate, and there are fears that several young people, possibly children, are trapped in debris.

It could be that that is the kibbutz to which they were referring in the A7 article. Rosh Tzurim is a kibbutz, and my son did hear several explosions as he ran to the shelter.

Is not half of Jerusalem Pakistinian?

Are the rockets accurate enough to avoid the Palestinian portions of the city?

Is Hamas gambling on hitting Palistinians?

They’re fatalists. If it hits Palis, Allah willed it. They submit to the will of Allah about everything except the reestablishment of the State of Israel, even though it’s predicted in Koran, Surahs 5 and 17.

In follow up, he did see a big hole in the middle of the “tractor park”. I spoke to one of his present teachers, and she said that there had been no rocket hitting the park, but there had been one in gvaot, rather than near Bet Lehem as the other two had said. I think they are trying to keep it quiet for fear that the parents will stampede. I resent them believing that I’m stampedable. I’ll be there tomorrow evening, for parent meeting, and will look for myself. Hope my camera is in working order.

Thanks. Can you be a little more specific, graphic, coordinates or in general, map it?

On Google Earth, look up Rosh Tzurim and you’ll see after the bridge a school, and a park with a few broken-down tractors. That’s where my son alleges the missile hit, around the tractors. I don’t know from coordinates or maps.

What bridge? I am looking at the image of the Yishuv and I do not see a bridge or school. Is it on the north end, near the (what appears to be) factories or long housing structures?

You go up the hill from Highway 60, and there is a gate. After the gate there is a foot bridge across the road. After that you’ll see a school on the right, up the hill from a barn/factory. Right before the school, on the same side as the school, there is a park.

Went to the school. Spoke to the teacher in charge of security in his class. He said that the explosions my son heard came from the Arab village near Givaot that is mentioned in the article, which was hit. The missile bound that way set off sirens, and he got the kids to the shelter, where they stayed. No missile hit Rosh Tsurim, but the loudness of the explosions and the excitement of the rush to the shelter, plus the tension of waiting, made my son think that it did.

As for the rest, there was no crater that I could see in the tractor park, and that must have been my son’s imagination overheated by fear. He first told me that one child was injured, and later that turned into ten.

Even so, that itself completes the story of the hit on Gush Etzion. It caused untold trauma on the children and adults who were in the zone of danger. It still makes the war personal to me. And only an idiot believes that it has even started in earnest, let alone ended with this flimsy cease fire agreement.

If one of these damned rockets hit the plant where my Halutza olives are packaged there will be hell to pay!

Having that fatso Hillary (and that phony Bronco Bama) broker a cease fire is patently ridiculous! This has been done hundreds of times and it never works. The evil Hamas and their sycophants laugh up their sleeves at this scheme which only allows them to gather up more weaponry!

Islam, Judaism and Christianity cannot coexist!

It is frustrating as hell when you call up 75,000 reservists and don't you them.

Now we are worse off than when this whole mess started, now Israel will be hamstrung by this damn ceasefire while Hamas rebuilds. Once all hell breaks loose again and Israel moves it will be a much tougher fight.

I hate Ubama and Hilary in ways even I couldn't imagine, but I do. They are the enemy.
