Rocket Hits Gush Etzion
Arutz Sheva ^ | 20/11/12 | Tzvi ben Gedalyahu

Posted on 11/20/2012 5:53:38 AM PST by Eleutheria5

A rocket exploded in an open area near an Arab village in Gush Etzion around 2:15 p.m. as sirens wailed in Jerusalem during another barrage of rockets and missiles unleashed by Hamas.

The missile exploded in an open area, and no one was injured. Minutes before the sirens rang out, an AFP correspondent in Gaza City reported hearing the loud report of an outgoing rocket.

The attack was claimed by Hamas's armed wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, which said it had fired "an M75 rocket at the occupied city of Jerusalem."

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who spent the past two days in Egypt, had been scheduled to hold talks in Jerusalem with Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman shortly after noon.

At least one missile was aimed at Jerusalem last week and reportedly exploded in an open area next to an Arab village in Gush Etzion, located south of the capital.

Shortly earlier on Tuesday, three rockets hit a kibbutz, critically wounding at least one person. The early warning siren system did not operate, and there are fears that several young people, possibly children, are trapped in debris.

This story is incomplete. My son's school in Rosh Tzurim (in Gush Etzion) was hit. Some kids were hurt, my boy not among them. This now personal.

thank you for the information. in my prayers. let FR know the status of the children. sounds like today will be the day, if the deadline for the ceasefire is really sought after by Hamas. (personally I doubt it will be, Hamas wants a war).

Wonder how Ban Ki Moon would handle nork rockets landing in Uijongbu or Seoul. I'm sure he'd urge a diplomatic approach.

There is a conservative synagogue in Atlanta that is inviting everyone to come there tonight and stand in support of Israel.

Ahavath Achim Synagogue

I would encourage anyone in the Atlanta area to attend at 7:30 pm, 600 Peachtree Battle Ave.

As a Christian, I will stand with Israel.

The Lord bless thee and keep thee . Will keep you and your family in my prayers.

(Psa 83:1) A Song or Psalm of Asaph. Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.

(Psa 83:2) For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.

(Psa 83:3) They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.

(Psa 83:4) They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

(Psa 83:5) For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:

(Psa 83:6) The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;

(Psa 83:7) Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;

(Psa 83:8) Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.

(Psa 83:9) Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:

(Psa 83:10) Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.

(Psa 83:11) Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:

(Psa 83:12) Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.

(Psa 83:13) O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.

(Psa 83:14) As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;

(Psa 83:15) So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.

(Psa 83:16) Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.

(Psa 83:17) Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:

(Psa 83:18) That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

(Psa 140:1) To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;

(Psa 140:2) Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war.

(Psa 140:3) They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders’ poison is under their lips. Selah.

(Psa 140:4) Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.

(Psa 140:5) The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.

(Psa 140:6) I said unto the LORD, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.

(Psa 140:7) O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.

(Psa 140:8) Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah.

(Psa 140:9) As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

(Psa 140:10) Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again.

(Psa 140:11) Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

(Psa 140:12) I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.

(Psa 140:13) Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.

Sorry to hear this. My thoughts are with you and the other citizens of Israel.

Fox News is now talking about how great it would to have a ceasefire, and ‘peace’.

Frankly, there isn’t going to be ‘peace’ in Israel until it ferrets out all the missiles, and cleans the place out.

I’m not hoping for ‘peace’ immediately. I’m hoping for a lasting ‘peace’ after weeks of cleaning up Gaza.

If Gaza is allowed to rearm and send in missiles in perpetuity, then the idea ‘peace’ is at hand is ridiculous.

That’s just it. We aren’t in the South. They’ve been hitting the Center and now Judah and Samaria (where we are). Gush Etzion is 15 clicks South of Jerusalem, 70 clicks North of Be’er Sheva. Through grape vine I’ve heard one hit near Bet Lehem, and one near Hebron, where we live. They have more range on their substitute wieners now.

My mistake, I was thinking that everything south of J'lem was "the south", never thought Samaria reached down there.

Ben Hartman, of the J Post, is tweeting that there is no cease fire. In a way I'm kind of relieved, there should be no cease fire until Gaza is clean! I keep on praying for you and your family, may the Lord keep y'all in the palm of His hand and bring you to safety.

You have all been in my prayers - haven’t stopped thinking about any of you over there... I praise God that your boy was unharmed, and I pray for the children who were, and their families.

I too, as others mentioned, hope there is NOT a cease-fire and that Israel can take care of business instead of being pulled by the whims of these terrorists and the world’s pressure against her. Enough already.

If I could go over and fight, I would. All it would take is ONCE - just ONCE for Israel to go all out and take these scum down. They are like a child poking at a tiger - I pray, just once, that the tiger’s tail could slip out of the world’s hand and that these insane jihadists would be forced to deal with the teeth. I mean REALLY deal with it. No more Mr. Nice Guy - y’know?

This is what my son told me. He was very afraid. His teacher rushed everyone to the shelter, and he heard explosions nearby, and shortly beforehand, the sirens sounded. Teacher told him that one child suffered a leg injury. I don’t know what the official reports said. They might not have chosen to report this, or they may still be investigating. Two of his teachers from last year, whom I called, said there was an explosion near Bet Lehem, but not at school. It’s possible that either my son or his former teachers are mistaken. I told my son to check for a crater in the “tractor park” where he says the explosion occurred, when he went back to school today. When he comes home, I’ll follow up.

In follow up, he did see a big hole in the middle of the “tractor park”. I spoke to one of his present teachers, and she said that there had been no rocket hitting the park, but there had been one in gvaot, rather than near Bet Lehem as the other two had said. I think they are trying to keep it quiet for fear that the parents will stampede. I resent them believing that I’m stampedable. I’ll be there tomorrow evening, for parent meeting, and will look for myself. Hope my camera is in working order.

On Google Earth, look up Rosh Tzurim and you’ll see after the bridge a school, and a park with a few broken-down tractors. That’s where my son alleges the missile hit, around the tractors. I don’t know from coordinates or maps.

You go up the hill from Highway 60, and there is a gate. After the gate there is a foot bridge across the road. After that you’ll see a school on the right, up the hill from a barn/factory. Right before the school, on the same side as the school, there is a park.

Went to the school. Spoke to the teacher in charge of security in his class. He said that the explosions my son heard came from the Arab village near Givaot that is mentioned in the article, which was hit. The missile bound that way set off sirens, and he got the kids to the shelter, where they stayed. No missile hit Rosh Tsurim, but the loudness of the explosions and the excitement of the rush to the shelter, plus the tension of waiting, made my son think that it did.

As for the rest, there was no crater that I could see in the tractor park, and that must have been my son’s imagination overheated by fear. He first told me that one child was injured, and later that turned into ten.

Even so, that itself completes the story of the hit on Gush Etzion. It caused untold trauma on the children and adults who were in the zone of danger. It still makes the war personal to me. And only an idiot believes that it has even started in earnest, let alone ended with this flimsy cease fire agreement.
