Capitalism at it’s best. If someone chooses to take time away from God and his loved ones to shop that’s his decision. Retailers are simply trying to get a jump on the impending doom that is Obamacare and the general eceonomy.
We have never bought anything that requires fighting the mobs of savages the day after Thanksgiving, with the possibility of being robbed coming out of the store. No bargain is worth that.
Instead, you can wait until “Cyber Monday” and get better deals while shopping in your jammies in the safety of your home. It’s a no-brainer.
I’m with you. I won’t spend a dime this holiday weekend. I never do. I spent 15 years in retail store management and always hated the way the companies I worked for ruined the holidays.
Don’t have to tell me twice. I would rather get a bikini wax from Nancy Pelosi than stand in line at some ridiculous hour with “the people of Wal-Mart”.
Those films of those shoppers surging into those stores makes me think of what a horde of lemmings charging to the sea would look like.
I’ll be blissfully sleeping Friday morning after preparing Thursday’s megafeast. No way, no how, would you catch me at a mall.
Admin Moderator: Pelosi’s bikini has hi-jacked this thread. :-)
I knew it was bad several years ago when my 4 year old asked which came first, Halloween or Christmas, while we were walking through the store. I said Halloween, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas. She pointed to the Halloween aisle, which had Christmas themed items at the end. “Why do they have it all at once?”
They open at 8 at night. I hardly think anyone is eating still at that time. If it was 8 in the morning, I would have an issue with that. Boycotts don’t work anyway. People are going to be full. The husbands are going to be watching football so the wives are going to go shopping. I don’t find this a big deal.
Then by all means don't go to the stores at those times. Last I checked, no one is making anyone shop on Thanksgiving.
Do you think it makes a difference if they sell "X" for $99 on Black Friday or the next Monday. They don't give a damn if you buy "X". They want you in the store or at their website.
Pssssst....The shoppers are the violaters. No one is forcing them into the stores. People like to shop!!
