Why do we put the History of New England, that most Blue of Blue regions, forward as the official History or the USA? The founders of South Carolina were not crazed religious zealots seeking to build a socialist utopia in the New World. Why don't we talk about them and their vision more? Or the founders of New York, Dutch merchants. Or the founders of Maryland? Pilgrims, pilgrims, pilgrims! Their descendents are still ruling over us, and still cooking up ridiculous schemes to redistribute wealth and improve the world, with lots of coercion, all justified by innate moral superiority.
I kinda wish the Indians had poisoned their corn.

Because they won the second civil war and the most recent victor writes the history books. I like Thanksgiving as one of the few good things to come out of New England, along with clam chowder and whaling songs.
