On Friday, Walmart filed an unfair labor practice charge against UFCW with the National Labor Relations Board to stop what Walmart says are illegal disturbances against its businesses.
A group of Walmart employes, encouraged by the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) and OUR Walmart, are expected to strike on Black Friday. Black Friday is the stores busiest day of the year, and this may be the largest strike against the company in its history.
Two groups affiliated with the UFCW -- OUR Walmart and Making Change at Walmart -- have been organizing demonstrations and flash mobs outside of Walmarts.

sorry ,but National Labor Relations Board is the Union Boss
As a former grocery-store employee screwed-over by the UFCW, I approve this message.
I applaud Walmart for doing this. Even though the NLRB is basically the federal arm of union enforcement, even they must ddress this complaint. I’m hoping Walmart will force them to follow their (the NLRB) own rules.
I’d say advantage Wal-Mart. They have more power than almost any union as long as they can keep issues out of the WH.
I know of some Hostess employees who are looking for jobs....
So basically what you are saying is Wal-Mart just complained to Hitler that the Nazis are up to no good...
As much as I dislike shopping on any day, if these thugs strike my local walmart I will be forced to shop there on Black Friday in solidarity with freedom loving people.
I’ll bet every Wal-Wart has binders full of prospective employees.
That means no more Ring Dings and Funny Bones. I bought one last box of both of them today while shopping.
And a lot of them are non-union.
...everyone knows that it will soon happen, just like Twinkies. I don't think that the fury of the people who have lost their Twinkie jobs has been been unleashed yet. Maybe it will not, who knows in this day and time when a reprobate like Pres zer0 could be elected for a second go-round at "fundamentally changing America"...as if there were something wrong with it to begin with.
Went to the grocery store last Thursday. There was not a package of anything made by Hostess. Manager said people bought them as fast as they were put on the shelves.
At Walmart this morning, only Hostess on the shelf was some cookies.
I agree that Wal-Mart complaining to the NLRB will achieve nothing, because the NLRB is a corrupt organization. However, Wal-Mart probably *has* to do this first, before it can sue in federal court.
And that is where the real action is, because Wal-Mart has long rejected legal settlements when it is sued, and has a brigade of very experienced and very successful lawyers who are probably thrilled with the idea of going after a “hard target” like the UFCW.

As Union Nears Win, Wal-Mart Closes Store
by Adam Geller
NEW YORK - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. says it will close one of its Canadian stores, just as some 200 workers at the location are near winning the first-ever union contract from the world’s largest retailer.
Wal-Mart said it was shuttering the store in Jonquiere, Quebec, in response to unreasonable demands from union negotiators that would make it impossible for the store to sustain itself.

So basically what you are saying is Wal-Mart just complained to Hitler that the Nazis are up to no good...
A perfect analogy... However, where the NLRB had some real leverage over Boeing, when Boeing wanted to open a new plant in a right to work state, since Boeing has all those government and military contracts, Walmart has none of these. Still, Obama is nothing more than a finger puppet for the real power brokers, like Trumpka. In the old days, Walmart would have stood up to the NLRB, but now, who knows?
Mark
You too, eh?
When 'my' local decided to go with a new contract with the employer that would have taken us off the UFCW's health insurance (which was horrible) the national stepped in and forced a strike. Bunch of crooks didn't want to give up their slice of the pie and screwed over their "brothers and sisters" in the process.
Hated belonging to that (or any) union, but to have the job I had to pay the dues under state law so I joined to avoid any pressure at work. Got some anyway; "So, where's the union patch on your work jacket?"
I’m starting to like Walmart again.
Maybe I will go to Sam’s Club on Friday and renew my membership. Buy some office supplies.
Heh, I didn’t know that about Drakes either. I thought it was a fictional name made up for a Seinfeld episode!
“I know of some Hostess employees who are looking for jobs....”
I wouldn’t hire those idiots.
bump
I hope they both lose.
The union? Obvious.
Walmart? Well, the company’s boss, a son of Sam Walton, gave $1,000,000 to a pro-Obama PAC during the campaign.
Screw ‘em both.
see post 25
I was in a union once. Same kind of deal...the old guys negotiated a good deal for themselves, left the younger ones in the lurch. Then they said, “Well, this is the best we can get, so let’s go for it.”
I remember it well: me and another young worker were the ONLY ONES who voted to reject the contract.
Now this was when I was young and liberal....so I thought unions were GOOD then. One of those early lessons I got that eventually turned me to the right side of things.
If they don’t like Walmart policies and the want to join a union...then QUIT your job at Walmarts and go join a Union.
America is turning retarded!
Funny Bones will be missed in this household.
LOL have you seen the price a bx of Hostess pastrys are selling on ebay??
...and the shelf life expires within two weeks.
Same here. Many years ago for a Safeway. I literally wanted to smash the union rep’s face who tried to explain to me that taking money away from my paycheck was for the greater good.
WALMART - 1( donations to Obama and 2) withdrawing advertising from Rush Limbaugh show....I am finding it hard to show them the support I would have a few years ago.
Sorry, but I don’t think that WalMart will be employing any former Hostess employees.
All they know to say is, ‘Welcome to our creamy filling’.
As a longtime Philadelphian, may I recommend the Tastykakes? Nothing else can compare to Tastykake icing, cake or creme filling.
One of our friends, an 89 yr. old German woman, remarked after Obama was re-elected, “Do these people know what they are doing? He is doing just like Hitler and Mussolini were in their early days of coming to power.”
Kroger, for me. I busted my butt for them, and got nothing in return. Now they can kiss it (the UFCW, not Kroger).
IMO walmart should just tell their employees anyone scheduled to work who doesn’t show up gets fired.
Owned by Flowers Foods, now, iirc, (and they will not be bought by Bimbo in the near future).
In the Oklahoma City area (and probably others), these protests will be backed up and organized by “occupiers”. I’ve already seen them gathering support on Facebook.
As a former grocery-store employee screwed-over by the UFCW, while working at Food Fair, in 1969 - 1970, I approve this message.
As a former General Dynamics - Pomona Division employee, 1980 - 1985, screwed-over by the INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF MACHINITSTS (and aerospace workers) and , I approve this message.
As a former first-line union rep. for the ever-loved AFGE,and yes, they did it to me, too.
I approve this message.
If they strike, I’ll apply for a job as a cashier to help them fight the unions.
“...That means no more Ring Dings and Funny Bones....”
Thanks to the Dems and their union thugs. Everything you guys touch just turns to sh*t.
I’ve never seen a political party, outside of the communists of course, that just....HATE....so much.
I have almost no use for unions...the “almost” I am not even sure of.
Well now, let's see if the NLRB adheres to the law...
UFCW to be held accountable for any injury or property damage that may occur as a result of the actions led by the union, OUR Walmart or any of its other affiliates.
Hah...union thugs do any damage...their union pays for it
This is going to be very interesting...
Wal-Mart has very, very deep pockets...and not afraid to "go to the mattresses" in a fight...
The unions may have bitten off more than they can chew...
The OUR Walmart employees may be in for a surprise when day when certain stores simply do not open in the morning when they show up...
Maybe after the 79 weeks of unemployment benefits runs out.
My memory is that the new (non-Walton) WalMart CEO was a MAJOR DONOR to Obama’s campaign. That MAY offset the unions, or at least make a more level playing field than would otherwise exist.

That's the great trick to the whole thing; none of the ‘striking’ workers are actually scheduled to work during the strike and mind, WalMart automatically fires those who are late on mandatory days. Since none of the strikers are actually supposed to be working, they can claim a walkout to the media, but nothing from Walmart as a response. And to stay within the law, every picket holder simply needs three pieces of union literature in their pocket and they are legally ‘handing out literature to fellow employees.’
This year, Walmart got the upper hand; anyone who holds up a sign saying ‘strike’ can be escorted off the property and sued. But the union thugs will be back next year, with picket signs that won't mention a strike or walkout.
It would not surprise me if the Unions are some movement destroys Walmart within the next 4 yrs. They are on the lefties hit list
But I thought I read only a few weeks ago that Wal-Mart had been a major campaign contributor to Hussein Obama?
