Mitt Romney was one amnesty for illegal immigrants away from becoming president of the United States.
That, in essence, is the conventional wisdom following an election in which the Republican presidential candidate lost the Hispanic vote by an eye-popping 71 percent to 27 percent margin.
MSNBC political analyst Chuck Todd predicted last week that immigration reform will get 80 to 90 votes in the U.S. Senate after the GOPs great Latino lashing of 2012.
Heres a mental exercise: Imagine what democrats would do to illegal immigrants if Hispanics started voting republican.
They would be deporting them by the trainload.
Teaching is the only way this can be done and convincing them our philosophy is best for them and everyone else - and end this racialization of everything. Don’t ask me how to go about it, but it is the only way. A hand out war won’t work - that isn’t our brand.
Mitt Romney was never going to win this election. He wouldn't have won had he promised amnesty. Republicans will never win the presidency again.
The combination of massive voter fraud perfected, and entire voting blocks bought and paid for with government programs (yes, "gifts"), will win every time from this point forward. Elections no longer mean anything.
Sadly, the idiot Republicans will still help to pass amnesty in 2013.
“whenever the here the phrase.... sheesh....whenever “I” hear the phrase. Must proofread better.
The the very successful Hispanic adoption of the decades old Black mantra of “racism” is creating competition for that white conscience welfare dollar. That has put their respective leaders in increasingly contentious position of going after a bigger bite of the same size apple.
Republicans need only to keep their conservative core as internecine battles inexorably tear apart the Welfare Party.
“Me too” never works.
When is the treatment of American citizens in Mexico and their rights vs US treatment of Mexicans going to be an issue when we discuss amnesty ?
Ever hear of reciprocal aggrements ? These are arranged to protect the rights of American citizens working or living in other countries.
Why is it when it comes to citizens of other countries we are required to offer them the same privledges as we do to US citizens? But when it comes to US citizens who get in trouble or attempt to do business in other countries they do not get the same treatment their citizens get.
Americans cant own coast land in Mexico. And get no title to it elsewhere. If they run out of cash theyll get unceremoniously sent back or put in jail untill some relative comes up with the fresh. Thats just for starters as for granting them voting privledges yea lets give Mexican citizens that right when American citizens vote in Mexican elections
“Heres a mental exercise: Imagine what democrats would do to illegal immigrants if Hispanics started voting republican.”
If that happened, the Dems wouldn’t be able to get that border fence built soon enough. Not to mention they’d have guards stationed along the fence with instructions to shoot anyone trying to get across.
How Romney and his handlers ever thought they could suggest that Hispanics “self deport” and then successfully ask for their vote boggles the mind. They may have illusions from the Republican slant of the early Cuban settlers in Florida who mostly were the more moneyed class in Cuba when Castro drove them out. Each subsequent generation is becoming more liberal and the Mexicans and Central Americans were always more liberal.
Heh. I don't know how many illegals vote here but my county is over 60% Hispanic and votes 78% Republican.
I agree that amnesty Hispanics, here for the free stuff, would vote for Democrats. But our Hispanics work. Hard.
We conservatives will not defeat the progressives until or unless we unmask and defeat the fifth columnists in the Republican Party. Karl Rove is a professed atheist who dreads a Paul Ryan or a Sarah Palin or a Marco Rubio or even a Rick Santorum leading a faith based, values based party of conservatives. He’s not alone. The Bush clan, the RNC and most Senate Republicans are the same ilk. If Rand Paul, Rubio, Cruz or any real conservatives grabs the lead the cabal of power hungry insiders lose. They will fight to the last breath to stay in charge of the party because it means power and fame. They destroyed Akin, Mourdock and even Romney. The next four years is a good time for a purge!
Conservatives look at Obama and see:

"The Obama coalition is a tight-knit group bound together by enlightened values reason, tolerance, diversity and equality......."
Hmmmmmmm.....sounds an awful lot like the "People's Temple." Rev Jones promised a "better life" and all the hope and change they could ever want, too.
It sure was thoughtful of Rev Jones to bring lotsa Kool-aid (and cases of cyanide) for the diverse crowd that blindly followed him to a remote South American jungle.....from which there was no escape.
Mexico is pushing north at a furious pace---throwing its "pressure groups" over the border---salivating for reconquista---to takeover the SW--- financing and coaching their fifth column invasion of US borders.
The wailing and whining invaders' propaganda-----"just here for a better life, to do jobs Americanos won't do"---really "gets" bleeding heart sap-happy liberals.....and vote-crazed US politicians.

AS FREEPER ISABELC INSIGHTFULLY POSTED: "Every illegal alien who is employed in the US has committed one or more of the following crimes: (1) ID Theft, (2) Document Fraud, (3) Social Security Fraud, (4) Employment (I-9 Form) Fraud, (5) Federal Income Tax Evasion, and, (6) Conspiracy to Violate Immigration Laws."
The GOP is too stupid to be allowed to continue as a political party. The Tea Party has to step up and replace it.
For Chuck Todd, simple surrender is not enough. Maybe Boehner should follow Obama's example by apologizing for the history of US immigration policy, which has been remarkably generous in the last 30 years, but apparently not generous enough.
I just entered “Romney self deport” in the FR search bar in the upper right hand corner. Got about 5 articles. In one McCain said that Romney realizes that self deportation is not the only answer to the immigration problem. Another article reported that Romney said it during the Primary campaign. The Wall Street Journal made reference to it. I did not read the whole articles, but you can search it yourself and read all of them.
I hear that instead of prayer before each session——Boehner and the Boys will do the Mexican Hat Dance on their new sombreros.
