Hey GOP, take the Palin cure
Los Angeles Times ^ | November 18, 2012 | Charlotte Allen

The Republican Party has been doing a lot of hand-wringing and finger-pointing since the presidential election. Half the conservative columnists and bloggers say the GOP lost because it overemphasized social issues such as abortion and gay marriage. The other half says the party didn't emphasize them enough. And everyone denounces Project ORCA, the campaign's attempt to turn out voters via technology.

But I've got a suggestion for cutting short the GOP angst: Sarah Palin for president in 2016.

You think I'm joking? Think again.

I understand Palin’s ethics complaints (not lawsuits) cost her..... $600,000?

Three months before she quit she signed a book deal worth approximately $7 million.... plus she was getting $100,000 per speech.

I can see if she thought the hassle of being governor was not worth the trouble. But lets be serious. She didn’t quit because she was going broke.

And yes, she did ask for and receive help from the GOP. She was paid $250,000 from the RNC to cover her legal expenses from the ethics probe.

The reason Palin was so active in the 2010 elections was because the RNC agreed to pay half of her legal bills in exchange for her campaigning for Republicans.

So yes, the Republican Party DID help her... did defend her... did support her. Regardless of how many times her supporters deny it.

She was being bankrupted. Before showing yourself to be clueless, maybe you should spend just a smidgen of time to learn the subject before commenting.

“Real leaders don't back out, or rely on excuses, or shift blame”

You are talking about Obozo and his total lack pf leadership, shifting of blame , excuses and backing out over taking any action to save the US consulate that lead to the total disaster at Benghazi and the death of 4 Americans including the US ambassador, yes?

GOP turnout will end up higher than 2008 once all the votes are counted

With the super high unemployment and the economic disaster that the Obozo regime has inflicted on the American people over the past 4 years, it shouldn't even be close. GOP turnout should have been much higher than in 2008.
Plus, tell me this..is the US population in 2012 not higher than in 2008?

How many self promoting books did Obozo write about his life BEFORE he even run for president and how much did he make from it? And Hilary?
And when did writing a book and making money from it became a crime or automatically disqualify anyone from running for president?

I can see if she thought the hassle of being governor was not worth the trouble. But lets be serious. She didn’t quit because she was going broke”

You can try to re-writen history all you want. That won't change the facts. She DID quit because she and her family were being bankrupted by Obozo and his Chicago gangsters goons and their surrogates.

And yes, she did ask for and receive help from the GOP. She was paid $250,000 from the RNC to cover her legal expenses from the ethics probe”

Legal expenses she wouldn't have been saddled with if she hadn't been nominated VP,k and an amount that did not cover the legal expanses she was saddled with.

The reason Palin was so active in the 2010 elections was because the RNC agreed to pay half of her legal bills in exchange for her campaigning for Republicans.”

You might need to take up a job as a stand up comedian. You'd be perfect for it.

So yes, the Republican Party DID help her... did defend her... did support her. Regardless of how many times her supporters deny it”

Yeah..the GOP defended Sarah Palin like Obozo defended the 4 Americans that were killed in the US consulate in Benghazi.

Sadly, by then she'll have been out of politics too long. Working as a commentator just isn't the same thing.
She needs a position of substance somewhere.

Well, what "position of substance" do you think would be appropriate for a potential presidential candidate?

In 2012, the GOP had a slate of candidates with experience including Governor, House, Senate, and CEO. None of them are currently president-elect.

Based on available public info, I think she saw what national politics was like, what with McCain's idiot staffers throwing her under the bus and then the Leftist constant filing of ethics complaints, saw the money available to her and her family, and said, "screw it." No problem with that.

In an alternate universe, imagine she wasn't tapped by McCain. She could have come into the 2011-12 Republican primary cycle with 5 years of excellent stewardship of Alaska, high approval numbers, and presumably a lot of time spent preparing herself on national issues. She would have easily been the nominee instead of Romney. With rock star status, and relentless attacks against ObamaCare and Obama's anti-energy policies, I think she could stood a great chance of defeating Obama's Cult of Personality. Too bad we didn't get to find that out.

Palin has been the most powerful force in republican politics for 4 years, we can assume that she will be in 2014 as well.

You just don’t seem to be very knowledgeable of what goes on in politics.

We know that you despise the most important, effective, conservative politician in America.

What we don’t know, is why are you so against conservatism, why are you so against the most effective conservative politician in America?

Why are you a troll against her, why do you get on threads and lie about her, mislead about her, post falsehoods against her, why is it so important for you to stop the tea party and the most effective conservative politician in America?

What is your purpose, your goal, why are you devoting yourself to stopping Palin? What is in it for you?

This is one of the poignant and insightful things I’ve read in a long time. It is absolutely correct. Evil begets evil.

It's a long time until 2016, so we'll see. She has to decide to run, work out a working strategery to overcome the poor and unjust perceptions she has been smeared with, and figure out how to demonstrate she is still a heavyweight political figure since she has been out of any kind of office for some time. If anyone can pull it off, it would be her.

I'm most concerned right now there may be not much left to save......

The Bamster is a destroyer and he's been let loose. There's a disaster coming, it's going to important just to figure out how to ride the coming tornado. Let's hope enough of us see how to deal with what's coming. I wouldn't be surprised to see her as a leader in the approaching darkness.

Palin made a fool of you guys last year by teasing you with entering the primaries.

It seems there are some who didn't learn that she is done with political office and are willing to be fooled again.

Get out of here you phoney Axelrod troll, you don't belong on a conservative forum.

You have nothing to say that is worthwhile, nothing at all.

How's the pay from Chicago these days? Are you still thrilled with four more years of your hero the destroyer?

GFY.

I think your comments are a bit hyperbolic.

And I keep up with politics and know that Palin's record of picking good candidates is mixed.

As people come to realize she is done with political office, her influence will continue to wane.
