Nice job of laying out and explaining why blackmail is a distinct possibility.

Apparently GOP congressmen and senators don’t want to question a man who knows everything about them. Petraeus should have been charged with perjury as soon as he admitted he’d lied.

This is a bang, bang, bang article but it begins and ends with the wrong premise. As I have stated from the very beginning of this entire 'affair' crap, of all petraeus' sins, infidelity was the LEAST of it. This isn't about blackmail. It's about using the excuse of the POSSIBILITY of blackmail to take petraeus off the hook...and by extension, obama. And it's working.
What fools we mortals be.

Once a nation becomes an Africa-style or Latin America-style sh*t hole, as Obama intends for the US, this sort of lying and dissembling becomes a commonplace.
Get used to it; it’s the future.

Maybe the affair’s the cover ... for the real stuff... If he’s ‘good’ the story comes out about the affair and he gets to resign with pension intact etc... If he’s not good - but not horrible - he gets stuff that ruins his reputation and he loses his perks. If he’s REALLY bad they stick him with stuff that’s treason - and he’s put to death ( or not - depending on who he fingers...) Just saying....the writing would be on the wall.

Broadwell, whose only visible track record as a published writer, aside from academic papers, was a pair of dry op-ed pieces in the Boston Herald and the NY Times, was suddenly co-writing a biography of the most famous soldier in America. If the New York Times was doing a favor by publishing her - we need to know who that favor was for ... and what they got in return. It's hard to score a clip off the NY Times... this is not minor.
