WASHINGTON — David H. Petraeus, the former director of the Central Intelligence Agency, told lawmakers on Friday that classified intelligence reports revealed that the deadly assault on the American diplomatic mission in Libya was a terrorist attack, but that the administration refrained from saying it suspected that the perpetrators of the attack were Al Qaeda affiliates and sympathizers to avoid tipping off the groups.

Mr. Petraeus, who resigned last week after admitting to an extramarital affair, said the names of groups suspected in the attack — including Al Qaeda’s franchise in North Africa and a local Libyan group, Ansar al-Shariah — were removed from the public explanation of the attack immediately after the assault to avoid alerting the militants that American intelligence and law enforcement agencies were tracking them, lawmakers said. . .

Beam me up Scot, I cannot take it any more.

I’m thinking we should have let the Germans and Italians have their way in North Africa in the early 40’s.

We just have to keep perspective. As much as we’re still hurling everyday right now, imagine the chagrin our service men and women feel about the prick being re-elected.

In the article Rep King (R) states:
“The fact is, the reference to Al Qaeda was taken out somewhere along the line by someone outside the intelligence community,” Representative Peter T. King, a New York Republican, said after the House hearing. “We need to find out who did it and why.”
That does not support the headline or the demoCraps!

The NYT is again carrying watwe for Obama. The terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack, by name, within hours of the attack. Oh how the lies keep changing. Remember, Obama said that he was sharing everything with the public as information came available. Now they are claiming they withheld the name so as not to tip off the terrorists......BALONY!!!!

I hate to say it, but BenghaziGate is going absolutely nowhere. The media and liberal talking heads will plant their flag with Petraeus’ lies and ridicule the GOP for questioning it. Shedlon Adelson wasted his money. He and Foster Friess and others should have bought a TV network instead.

Obama says he ordered directives upon immediately learning of the attack to protect our personnel. So let’s see the directive...

Petraeus is a coward. He may be a hero in battle, but he is a moral coward. He knows what happened and he is still playing games.

Peter King was so upset after this Friday’s session. He was trying to smooth over the lies Petraeus had just given. The big lie was that Petraeus claimed he hadn’t said it was the video in the first closed door session.

King admitted that he considered Petraeus a good friend and it was hard to question a friend. What kind of true friend lies to his friends. Maybe someone who cheats on his wife and lies to his country, and doesn’t believe in the First Admendment. In this case, Petraeus doesn’t accept the first Admendment right of an American citizen to speak up against the Islamist terrorists.

Were they running WEAPONS???

Perhaps. Perhaps this facility was being used for rendition, something Obama outlawed after he was inaugurated in 2009. Benghazi = GITMO East?

Ok. No al Qaeda.

How about the simple term Terrorist attack .....

Oh no thats defeats the Biden / O chant....

Even if you pull off this smokescreen you still haven’t told us who denied a CBA ( cross border authorization ) .

That would have allowed outside of Libya assets to come to the rescue/ defense of those in danger.

Nothing illegal about lying to the public, or even watching Americans die live on TV when it could be prevented.

Cheaters cheat and liars lie. Anyone who cheats on a spouse (which always involves huge amounts of lying) is not to be trusted in anything AT ALL EVER.
