You dont want your military described as an NGO that stands for non-governmental organization, like the Red Cross or Doctors Without Borders. Its just one of the criticisms lobbed by Mark Steyn about how the nation is fighting, or not, in Afghanistan, in the latest issue of the conservative National Review. He argues that while the U.S. tends to be forward-leaning when it comes to getting into wars, its also forward-leaning when it comes to getting out. We simply dont have the will to win, he says.
Thats true, as far as it goes, of course. Democratic governments who ask their civilians to sacrifice their offspring for never-ending wars and their offsprings offsprings earnings to pay for it a generation or two down the road shouldnt be surprised. Its part of the tapestry of American history. Its just interesting when these arguments, long made on the left, start coming from the right as well.
Steyn, author of America Alone: The End of the World as We Know It, takes a pretty apocalyptic view of the global scene. He fears Islamic fundamentalism could be coming soon to the United States. One place to turn back that tide, he believes, is Afghanistan. But he doesnt like the apparent return-on-investment:...

He frets that such an outcome will lead to the very palpable evolution of Americas soldiery into yet another victim group. Victims of what? Of a political class and a broader national culture that knows how to start wars but not how to win them.
Thats the real national-security scandal.

Mark Steyn is cited.
The problem begins with the extreme differences between politicians and warriors. A politician will say and do anything to improve his chances for personal advancement/reelection. A warrior says what he is going to do and then does what he says.
Unfortunately not all politicians wear suits - there are all too many in uniform.
Do you want to win this or any other war?
Give e the military clear direction of what you want to end up with, inform the political opposition and LMSM that you will actively prosecute treason and then stand back. Without the aggressive prosecution of treason during the war you will lose.
Been there, done that, have the T-shirt.scar tissue, and have shead the tears from 1970.
“Unfortunately not all politicians wear suits - there are all too many in uniform.”
That is increasingly evident. And it’s an outrage our boys must follow orders that are tainted with political correctness, such as the foolish rules of engagement for example. No wonder morale is low.
America Wages War Like the Worlds Biggest NEGRO
There, fixed it.
