An Israeli Defense Force spokesman said Friday that a Hamas militant program to build and launch drone aircraft has been destroyed.
Speaking on Israeli television, an IDF spokesman said that for the past few months Israel has been monitoring Hamas' attempt to build a drone fleet.
Black-and-white video released by the IDF shows a strike on a Hamas drone being tested at Khan Yunis in Gaza. In a Twitter message the IDF said the video shows "what that program once looked like."

A Boeing 707-based AWACS was brought down by two Canada Geese and if they can do it, two Hamas drones could bring down an Israeli tanker, IMO.
Search the website at the search term "runway kill zone" for more information on how autonomous GPS-guided drones, particularly helicopters, can be used to bring down heavy aircraft.
At the bottom of the story at the link is the JPost account of the IDF hit on the Hamas drones:

The IDF also revealed on Friday that it had taken out Hamas’s nascent drone program.
The military recently focused its intelligence efforts on a group of Hamas terrorists who were developing and producing drones designed to strike fortified targets in Israel.
The terrorists were under the instruction of Iranian technical instructors, and the ‘production team’ carried test flights in Gaza of the drones.
The IAF struck the test flight sites in recent attacks.
Hummm... the video on the website is a no-op.
A PS - no-op with Firefox - IE works.
Worked fine for me with Firefox.
The IDF videos are here (English subtitles too, unlike the link in the article above). . .

Will they give us the technology to take out Big Sis’ drones?
Tx for the tip - maybe this one needs an update that I don’t have!
Without their propaganda, they are SOL in public sympathy.
Just like AQ sets ambushes for the first responders, IDF should nail them to the wall!
So what you're saying is that the Viking Kitties are now airborne?
Cheers!
Correct! The kitty micro-helicopter you posted, if GPS-guided rather than merely radio-controlled, could be positioned in the runway path of a turbofan...which is a very delicate thing.
No on-board explosives are needed. Small birds have brought down airliners. Cartoons were published of terrorists training flocks of birds after Captain Sully Sullivan’s plane was brought down, so the idea of terrorists, like Hamas, reverse-engineering airline bird-strike crashes is out there.
The erratic flight of the drone seen in the video was apparently operator error, not the drone getting zapped by the IAF!
