I tried to ping everyone who has posted recently on racing threads from last year. I won’t be using the ping list I compiled again so don’t worry about receiving future pings from me.
NormsRevenge did an outstanding job of keeping the racing threads going from week to week last season. Hopefully someone will fill the void so we can all enjoy a weekly thread. Yes, the political climate is terrible and our representatives are clueless. We are all busy and stressed. My hope is that we can use each race and this season as a diversion to have some sense of normalcy in our lives. God speed and God bless you all.

So-k. I’m in The middle of a 2 week stay in Maui and the only thing that matters is when can next eat (more) Hula Pie.
I just came off some crazy island from Beaufort but it obviously doesn’t compare. Enjoy. I signed up two more members to FR racing!
Back home in the high-desert and am wondering why I left the tropical paradise of Maui. BTW MtnClimber you have some beautiful photos on your home page. I happened to click it by accident and am glad I did.
Looks like the season starts off with the 75 lap race “The Sprint Unlimited” at Daytona Beach on Saturday, February 16th then the Duels will follow on Thursday afternoon, February 21st. Sure is a lot of talk about the new Gen 6 car; it’s going to take me a few races to catch up with the changes in car drivers & numbers.

I need to get a slide scanner. I have lots of photos of bighorn sheep and elk that I stalked with a 35mm camera and a lomg lens. I have gotten really close to bighorns. So close that the head filled the whole frame. The first picture of a young mountain goat was at about 13,000 ft elevation between Durango and Silverton, Colorado. He was playing on top of a boulder that was about 7 ft high. I snuck up under him and made a noise and snapped his picture when he looked over the edge. I reached up to see if I could touch him and he tried to stomp my hand with his hoof! I know he has to be distantly related to tubebender.

I had a heck of a time getting a package for the race. A lot of the hotel packages are sold out. They had to order another bus just for us.
Brilliant sunshine in Bend all of this week, currently 62, but cold & flurries next week when we go to Eugene.

Yeah, I’m excited too. It’s not just that the season starts in a void of other major sporting events (not a basketball, hockey or baseball fan) but the Gen 6 car could be a very good thing for the sport. I love the patriotism, the flags flying, the honoring of the men and women in uniform, the fly-overs, the national anthem. I love the soap-opera aspect of who said what and which and why on which team/crew-chief-owner/spouse. I love the devotion of a fan when all that matters is their guy (my wife - JJ) or gal. When we’re able to get to a track I absolutely love the smell of burnt Sunoco fuel. I love the ear-splitting car noise and the crowds and even the guys that can’t get off the Premier Sports bus when we get to the track at 7:00am ‘cause their to drunk to walk. I look forward to questions being answered - who has the jump on the competition with the Gen 6 car? (rumored - Hendrick) What animosities will care over from last year? How will the drivers that have moved (Kenseth, Lagano) do w/their new teams? Can Jeff Gordon put together one great year one last time? Is Dale gonna be in the game? JJ? Will Kasey Kahne pull off the year that Kaz had last year or will it be someone else? How ‘bout the new track dryer? And Mark Martin has absolutely gotta win a race! And a biggie - what role will the new emphasis on concussions play this year? Yeah, Gentlemen, and Lady, start your engines.
